Once Upon a Time in Wonderland 1x02: Trust Me [a.k.a. Bloody Hell]

Oct 18, 2013 16:05

You know those jokes and parody gags about Jacob from Twilight being paid for every time he takes off his shirt on screen? Apparently Michael Socha is being paid for every time he says "bloody hell". Can't really blame 'em, I like this phrase a lot and these people clearly have no concept of "overused". That said, here's the weekly portion of ( Read more... )

Yes, that turtle stabbing! What the hell, Alice!

I still find myself liking Alice, but I think that's mostly because I like her face and her hair and her outfit so I just watch her and ignore all of her Cyrus talk most of the time (and also, I only skimmed the episode this morning - will probably go back and actually watch the whole thing later - so I skipped over most of the stuff where Cyrus was directly involved)

and these people clearly have no concept of "overused".Man, this episode had less 'bloody' abuse/overuse than the pilot, but can we stick to just one 'bloody hell/bloody whatever' an episode? Or two every other episode? Or we could use it even a bit more sparingly than that? It's one of those things where as soon as I noticed they were overusing it, it started to make me crazy ( ... )

I felt so sorry for the turtle! And when she asked about slaying dragons: wtf, some dragons are good! Why is it a default reaction to a dragon that it should be slain? T_T
No, the Red Queen didn't appear in OUAT, but the books did have two queens: Queen of Hearts in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and the Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass. Some adaptations make them the same character, but OUAT apparently decided to stay more faithful to the books. Idk if it's a good thing considering Emma Rigby seriously irks me.
I do suspect that the Anastasia in question is probably the Red Queen and I'm not looking forward to it. That. T_T They might still go with the love triangle though. But I suspect the Red Queen isn't beyond redemption, so we should probably get ready for even more annoying twu wuv talk.
It's one of those things where as soon as I noticed they were overusing it, it started to make me crazy. Ugh yes. Well, at least he said "buggered" in this ep. XD I was beginning to think "bloody [hell]" was the only British slang the ( ... )

I missed the dragon bit on my quick scan this morning.

Oh yeah, I knew that the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts were separate Queens (in the books/many adaptions). I just wasn't sure if the White Queen had been mentioned at all in the main OUaT universe yet.

I'm still rooting for them to suddenly kill Cyrus during November sweeps. Then they can take a couple of weeks off, Alice can spend her time between episodes as a mourning zombie, and then we can move on to less boring plots. Like revenge. I'd rather have her focus on revenge, frankly, though it isn't really any less cliche and is only moderately less annoying. Come on, guys. Let's fridge Cyrus. (yeah, right)

She asked Cyrus if he'd ever slain a dragon. XD He was like: Yeah, don't recommend it though. Poor dragon. T_T
Hahaha, I'm all for killing Cyrus! But can a genie even be killed? Also, he's a guy, smth tells me they don't fridge guys, only girls. :((

ROFL at everything

Apparently Michael Socha is being paid for every time he says "bloody hell"! Bag CGI-land!

Still, I'd rather they went with the book. That would explain why the Knave is so traumatized by love. XD >>> /ded

This show is a very frustrating comedy, what. XD Don't tell me that's not a legit genre because it so is. XD
You know you want this though:

Please don't make it as simple as a heartbreak. There are other reasons to be cynical and seemingly callous.

Considering when we found out why Regina dedicated her life to ruining Snow's, I went, "That's it?" I'm not going to hold my breath about either the Knave's or Jafar's pasts lol.

Yeah... and now they're setting Regina up with someone else. Undoubtedly so they could kill him too and cause another evil murder spree. O_o
But still, sometimes there are nice surprises. For example, it was refreshing to see Mad Hatter's motivation being his daughter and Dr Frankenstein's his brother.

The funniest thing is that most of the cast is English! Yet only the Knave seems to repeat "bloody hell" every 5 minutes. O_o
Boy, you really weren't kidding about all the true love stuff, were you? Buhahah, welcome to OUAT! XD I fear it'll only get worse.
Cyrus annoys me sooo much. You'd think they'd at least make an effort if they were so hell-bent on filling the show with Alice/Cyrus moments...
"Jiffar! Whuh have you been? How durr you keep the Queen of Wanderland waiting!" Hahaha, accurate XD I checked her Wiki page after ep 1 and I was surprised to discover that not only she was English but she'd also appeared in Becoming Human. O_o She had seemed familiar but wow, that's a coincidence. XD But I didn't like her then and I don't like her any better now. Very lousy casting choice.
Because right now, he's the only aspect of this torturous show that I'm enjoying. That's until we meet the mysterious Anastasia. XD
Plot twist: Anastasia's real name is... JAFAR. ROFL! Yes please! If the show doesn't give us that you could always write it ( ... )

I hope that even if it's canceled, the Knave might still appear in OUAT proper... He did live in Storybrooke after all. There are supposed to be crossover eps.
Becoming Human is nice for a webseries, but too simple. Well, limited screen time and budget would be the problem))
I mean, he reduced all those peasants to dust, but somehow the Red Queen's crummy wooden box is enough to stop him from getting his hands on the genie's bottle. Well, he doesn't know where she keeps it. XD Maybe the next ep will show him looking for it in her lingerie drawer XD

Enjoy your recaps! :) Although, I still haven’t gotten around watching the series itself... Mostly because I have some strong feelings about the parent show. :S

Re: Anastasia

I love your theories! Maybe it’s a name of some fancy tart? XD Also one of Cinderella’s stepsisters was called Anastasia (the redhead one).

Thank you! :))
I have mixed feelings about the main show: I see all its flaws and there's a lot of eyerolling involved in watching it, but every once in a while it manages to stab me in the feels. XD
OMG, right, I forgot about Cinderella's stepsister! That'd be a cool plot twist actually. XDDD
