The Diary of a Nobody, or I Can't: the Andrew Gower Voice Edition

Aug 13, 2013 19:27

I had my doubts whether I should write anything about this because technically it's not a TV-series and I don't do book reviews here (or anywhere, to be honest). Then again, I didn't read The Diary of a Nobody as a book. I listened to the two-part BBC radio adaptation during a three-hour bus trip a week and a half ago. Since it does feature Andrew ( Read more... )

...Okay, I'm intrigued. I'm going to have to hunt down this Frankenstein's Wedding, aren't I.

Adding it to my list!

I was trying to think of how I would describe Gower's voice and I was thinking a bit nasal, maybe, and a slight hint of a lisp, but mostly the word that I keep coming back to is 'droll' though I'm not sure if it's actually the word I'm looking for, and since I haven't seen Gower in any of his other roles (I assume I saw him on Misfits, but don't specifically remember him) that might be a word more specific to his characterization of Cutler than to Andrew Gower in general, I'm not sure. Either way, it's definitely a distinctive voice, which yeah, could be good or bad depending on how you use it. Also, based just on that youtube clip, I also vote for more singing!

His voice is pretty much the same in all his roles, so yeah, I think this description fits XD
Andrew only sings two songs in Wedding, but they're beautiful)) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQaPbU3_9ic <-- I love this one; I used to listen to it a lot during my early days of writing Hal/Cutler XDDDD Then there's also his band, Emerson, which is nice but has too few songs imho. They need new ones. T_T LOL, he and Damien should star in a musical XD Preferably televised so we all could see it. XD

Yes, I am totally on board with a televised Gower/Molony musical. Can we will that into being? Like if we both wish for it really hard from our locations on opposite sides of the UK then our mind power will converge over London and someone will produce that for us, right? I think that's probably how these things work. ;)

May the power of our combined wishmaking bring forth this brilliant musical!

We should probably make sure to specify in our wishmaking that we want an intimate character based musical and not a West End mega-musical. No movie to musical remakes, and if it's going the jukebox musical route then music choices must be pre-approved by the wishmakers. I don't want to sit through some Mamma Mia! or Thriller-Live type musical for these guys. And let's keep the dancing at a minimum.

Okay, I'll stop making demands based on my own personal preferences now. Sorry. ;)

Actually, wait, one more - while we're at it, if their characters could make out a bit, I'd be more than okay with that too.

Oh, I agree! We've had enough dancing in the Puttin' on the Ritz number XDDDD
if their characters could make out a bit, I'd be more than okay with that too. We've got the best musical ever and no one's staging it. T_T XDDDD (Now I wonder what it's about...)))
