1. I'm glad I can help. Life is what you make of it, and I think there's enough that's positive in you to push through and make your life worth it.

4. The Passion of Buckaroo Banzai just made me giggle.

6. I tend to associate other people with birds more than any other type of animal. Not sure why. It just seems easier to me. I like doves- that sounds nice to me.

7. Yes, I do think it has deviated, and in many ways. How many Christians give all they have to help the poor? How many treat everyone they meet with respect, not judging them but loving them? How many have a complete devotion to discerning and following the ways that God sets out before them? Probably not a large percent, at least not in this country where life is too easy. I can't say that I do myself.

There are also probably a whole lot of doctrinal issues that defined the various branches of Christianity in ways that weren't intended. I don't think Christ wanted the church divided. Neither do I think that he wanted us all to be carbon-copies. Our human tendency to fear what is different has made us separate ourselves from what is different and conform to what is familiar. I don't imagine that he wanted either the separation or the conformity.

On the other hand, I think all the mainline branches of Christianity still teach the same bottom line point that was intended all along: that by allowing Christ to take the place of our sins through faith, we can come into the presense of God. I also think that despite all the differences between denominations and people and despite all the deviations, as long as someone believes that one main point and does not add or subtract to it except as Christ taught, that person will have the freedom of forgiveness and will see the face of God.
