I haven't gone on a rant in quite a while, but i'm starting to get sick of people who are political just because they think its the cool think to do. being political because every four years they take mtv away from you for a month to talk about how you can rock the vote is bullshit. if you're democrat or republican just because you think its cool, you're not political at all. attempting to rock the vote is bullshit. mtv leans so far to the democratic side, its pointless to attempt to argue who their trying to rock the vote in favor for. I'm a very political person, but i will also tell you politics aren't cool, they aren't meant to be. if you're only voting or even interested in politics because of something you saw on nick news then you have no need to be involved. just sit back and let the people who actually bother to figure out whats really going on instead of voting democrat because jessica simpson told you to. its bullshit how people think they're politically charged without any convictions on why they say so. anytime someone tells me they are into politics, i ask them the same simple question. whats the difference between democrats and republicans? Nobody i've met, save for a few people, most older than me, can answer this correctly without going, republicans are just wrong, or vice versa. I lean democratically, but they're not correct on everything they do, neither party is. so far nobody has got it right and i know 98% of people, regardless of their political affiliation will agree with this. stop thinking politics is cool. if you think its cool, meet a politician and tell me that's who you want to be when you grow up, that they're the most interesting person you've ever met, and honestly say they didn't just bore you to death. Politics effect everybody, but that does NOT mean everyone should get involved, i know more than a handful of people i would put no faith in if they had to decide that was going to happen in my country. i'm not saying ignore it, i'm saying get out there and make you're own decisions, decide what you think is right or wrong. learn the directions before you play the game, not in the middle of it when you figure out you've been backwards the whole time.
And another thing, those goddamn yellow ribbons do NOT make you political, they do NOT make you a "good" american. they make you supportive of our troops. there is a big difference between "supporting" our troops by buying these things, and actually making a difference. George W. isn't going to see one of these things one day and go "good idea, lets get them home." its going to take a lot more than that but everyone is too goddamn caught up in their day-to-day lives, that they can't look ahead and realize the shit is going to hit the fan and we're all in the same room.
