Yeah... I've not been writing Hikago fic much. *guilty twitch* But since I've signed up for BG, I should get a start on it. So here I am, trying to write more Hikago fic. I really enjoyed this, even though I don't usually like short fics. The dynamic between Akira and his father that we catch glimpses of in canon is beautiful, and I love seeing it in fanfic. I think the two of them share more and understand each other on a deeper level than most parents and children -- and not just because of go, but because of the sort of people they are, passionate and focused and independent, with neither excessive pride nor false modesty. (The way you framed this story nailed that, I think.)

Anyway, I completely agree with your take on Touya Sr. I think he would be happy to see Akira moving in a different direction and growing into his own person. I approve! ^_^

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yep, what I like about Touya Kouyo is that he's able to see people as individuals, even his own son.

I'm trying to write longfics, but lack of time makes it difficult. But the newest round of blind_go challenge (fics out on May 5) is a long-ish fic round. Keep an eye out for it!
