OMG, totally coming in late to this post, but I love 80s idols and looking through your list of faves, I'm like, IA IA IA on practically all of them.

First of all, Otokogumi. I swear, they'd have been higher on the list if they hadn't disbanded prematurely ;_;

Shonentai, Akina, Matchy and Hikaru Genji are by default my faves, so there's not much I can say about them without going into a huge rant that would take up more than half of my comment, so I'll leave it at that <3

I really liked Kawai Naoko from the days when female idols (Akina too) would appear in short skits with Johnny's members like Matchy and Tahara. It would be cool to see something similar like that these days, but in my opinion the female idols today aren't as good as the 70s and 80s :/

Dakishimete Tonight was the only one of Tahara's songs that I listen to, but I love it and I never seem to get tired of it. I'm kind of shocked that he's higher up on the list (even if only by a little), since Matchy's still musically active, and I thought he was way more popular.

And Nakamori Akina is amazing. She's seriously my favorite female singer ever. Although I listen more to Seiko's songs, there's just no comparison when it comes to voice. Pink Lady are just as awesome.

Sorry for the super long comment. I could go on and on, but I only listed the ones I REAALLY like. The 80s were seriously the Golden Age of idols.

I'm really glad about your comment, and I am really interested on your rant about ranking, maybe we will agree in some points :p
For example I also think Matchy should be in a more upper place also because he's more popular, he has many more "iconic" songs that Johnny's actually keep singing, he still fulfills stadiums at his concerts.. but anyways, fortunately he's on the big list
Also Akina imho will be always way better than Seiko but Seiko had the charisma I think Akina lacked because she was always really silent, but owner of a superb incredible voice.

When I opened my LJ, it had the subtitle "the golden age of Japanese music" because it was intended to be devoted to 80's idols :p

Thanks again for commenting <3
