Just making it extra-public

This is plastered all over Facebook, probably myspace and probably somewhere in the media, but I think this is one of the most disgusting groups of people and want everyone to be aware.

The Westboro Baptist Church is based out of Kansas led by a man named Fred Phelps. Plainly put, they are extreme religious fanatics, apparent Christians but follow no ways of Christ, as far as I'm concerned... and they hate everyone. Their websites include godhatesamerica.com and godhatesfags.com (don't visit them, they're upsetting and apparently they gain some sort of money from each visit to the sites) They were glad for the attacks on 9/11, they rejoice when an American soldier is killed and to take that all a step farther they often protest "Gods wrath" at the funerals of these soldiers. There are motorcycle gangs who also attend some of these military funerals and create a barricade between the funeral and these protesters using their bodies linked by American flags.

Anyway, now some of the WBC group are planning to attend and protest at the funerals of those killed at Virginia Tech this past Monday, starting in Georgia on Saturday the 21st at Ryan Clark's funeral. I don't really know any details but I'm sure that there will be many people present blocking their naturally unwanted presence, usually in silence. I'm not asking anything of anyone. I just want to write about this and hope that people who don't know that there are people capable of such evil (opinion) will understand. To me their decision to pickett these funerals is right up there in horror with the sick minded man who committed the murders in the first place.

From what I'm seeing the WBC does not have support from anyone; the public, law enforcement or the government. The only support they have is their freedom of speech. (They have a freedom of speech but Bong Hits 4 Jesus guy doesn't... weird.)

This a petition, which I assume is mostly just a show of people who are angered: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/VTfunerals/index.html
Sign it or not, I'm not sure how effective a petition could be in a circumstance such as this.

Here's the wikipedia article about them, too... just in case people think I'm making things up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church
