Last July. I miss the Hills, but the new place is far more convenient, especially for someone like me who doesn't drive...public transit along the Wilshire corridor is amazingly good.
It's a constant challenge. My mother still makes fun of me for moving away from the transit-rich Bay Area to settle in Los Angeles; she claims it's yet another sign of my addiction to doing the impossible. :)
Mostly, I ride the bus. I get groceries delivered (it's surprisingly cheap and easy through Ralph's). And of course friends very frequently come to my aid.
You should try NOT DRIVING in San Diego, where the Mass Transit is even WORSE than LA.
And probably MORE EXPENSIVE.
I lived without a car for nine years, slogging it on the Bus, or having Girl Friends tool me around, or friends and relations giving me lifts.
All sorts of rumors and legends errupted from that fact. And during the transition to wheels again why, as some one who worked with Computers, I did not own a home computer...wow,that one went legendary.
So now it's been two cars and four laptops since the late 1990s. Or is that five laptops? or Six? Do I count the work one?
