Well, I had a gander ( mind the pun ) at falconry in british columbia. I love all the raptors here so I am totally in birding stuff. I never thought I would be so interested.
I am going to a birding presentation on the bluff this month, because we have the most unique wetlands in Canada. We have thousands of bird varieties. They are beautiful and really bizarre.

My first encounter with an eagle here was a mystical experience. I have always had a love of birds of prey. I also understand that here in BC, we have too many. With the change of terrain due to human encroachment more raptors have been moving into the area. They have killed off most of the local prey - like gorgeous blue herons.

The thing with that is, when I am walking on the beach at night, the blue herons are now hunting in the evening to avoid the raptors! They are adapting!
And my boyfriends dog was nearly swiped by a bald eagle the other day!! It was pretty scary.

So they must be hungry and overpopulated. I would be interested in seeing if there is some way of having 'cooperative falconry' even though I doubt one could set it up like 'horse renting 'haaha - ok horse leasing more like. That would be good, but not ideal as you have to 'be at one with your falcon'.

Cool 'sport'. Maybe one day. For now - horseriding - but thanks for your input! I am still thinking of more ideas:
