Playing around on PSP just now, I came across this awesome coloring effect, which I think is really... effective? So, ththe readers' benefit and partially to make sure I don't forget how to do it; I'll be showing you how to achieve this coloring:
We'll be going from

Note: The negative image trick isn't mine, I learned it in another tutorial I took a while ago. But the rest of this tut is all my own.
So, here we go
1. Take your base, crop, sharpen and all that jazz.
2. Duplicate your image. Set the duplicate as a negative image (Adjust > Negative Image). Select your flood fill tool (make sure the Blend Mode is set to 'Burn') and fill the duplicate with a light blue shade.
3. Select Adjust > Negative Image again. Your image should now be back to normal, except it will have a slight red tint, depending on the shade of light blue you chose
4. On the same layer (still the duplicate), flood fill with the same light blue shade you just used (make sure the blend mode is still set to 'Burn'!) You should now have something looking like this;

5. Duplicate your base layer, drag to the top and set to Screen at 46%
6. Create a new layer on top of all the others and flood fill with #C6E301 (set the blend mode back to normal before you do this!). Set this layer's opacity at 42%
7. Duplicate your base layer again and drag to the top. Set to Soft Light at 72%
You're finished, and should now have something with similar coloring to
