OH MY GOD IT IS SO LONG LIKE SERIOUSLY
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Lawrence is of average height. In fact, he looks smaller than a boy really should. He's thin, very thin. Kind of like cardboard.
2. How old is he?
Lawrence is seventeen years old.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He carries himself rather well. There's a certain degree of confidence in his step, so much so that it could be mistaken (or perhaps taken accurately depending on the interpretation) as arrogance.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Lawrence isn't fit at all. He hates nature and does not go outside when he can help it. As for his health, it borderlines somewhere between unhealthily thin and just thin. He isn't exactly prone to illnesses. He has no physical disabilities.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
His movements are very stuffy and tense, almost as if he's accustomed to wearing formal wear everywhere he goes.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
What in the... I don't even...
Attractiveness varies, depending on who is looking at Lawrence. For a boy he is unusually... pretty. His hair is quite long and well taken care of (it's really the only part of himself that he LIKES) but his skin isn't as fair as it probably would be if he took more care of it. He has the appearance of a girl to those who don't look closely enough at him. Though, those who actually speak to him know he's actually NOT a girl and that they should stay away.
As for perception, Lawrence hates everything about himself aside from his hair and personal choice of clothing. He believes that one should dress nicely no matter what the occasion may be... which is probably why he's always overdressing everywhere he goes.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
His complexion is light. Very light. But not pale, like Luna. That would be weird.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
OH GOD WHY YOU KNOW I SUCK AT DESCRIBING HAIR
Lawrence's hair is blond in color. The texture of it is very fine, almost as if he brushes and washes it regularly (which he does... almost obsessively). As for the style... he tends to wear it in a ponytail that goes all the way down to the center of his back with just a few strands dangling in front. Loooong strands. I mean, over your shoulders long.
9. What color are his eyes?
His eyes are as black as can be.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
No, not particularly. Should he? I mean I could say something about manicures but I'm not.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
What the hell does that even...
Okay. I had to ask Alex and look it up myself to even begin answering this. ANYWAYS.
Lawrence's chief tension center is his chest. He keeps everything bottled up inside without letting people in... and it drives his emotions bonkers. Sometimes his hands might shake because of the constant stress he inflicts on himself and endures. But that's... about it... did I answer this correctly? I DON'T CARE MOVING ON~
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Well... back at the mansion, Lawrence has a very big wardrobe. I mean, it's kind of crazy how many outdated outfits Lawrence chooses to collect. Even crazier is how Heinrich lets him. He's very dressy and show-offy. Almost as if he's trying to sell himself just a little too hard. The colors are all darker versions of brighter colors--you know, your reds, your blues, maybe some greens. It is interesting to know that a lot of what Lawrence chooses to wear is black.
Variation really depends. He has lots of suits but he has lots of other things, too. Mostly vests, dress shirts, overcoats, trenchcoats... yeah. Lawrence is a little crazy about outdated clothing.
He hasn't brought most of that to Adessi, though. Only what he needs to adhere to the dress-code. Everything else he left at Heinrich's, save for his favorite cloth trenchcoat which he busts out in the winter, his ribbon tie and his pair of winter boots.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
His clothes fit rather well. Most of his outfits are tailored to fit him. Comfortability... depends. Usually, he looks uncomfortable no matter what he wears, or how he feels about what he's wearing.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Lawrence doesn't have a job. He doesn't believe he needs one, either. Jobs take away from studies, and reading. He's very to-the-point on this subject.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
WHY?!
I don't know? I mean, I'm a guy. Why would I think about... uh, boxers I guess. Lawrence doesn't strike me as the type to wear briefs. And we're not even entertaining the third choice.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
A fine balance between being high-pitched and deep. His voice is probably the one thing that distinguishes him as a boy.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Normally, Lawrence's speech is very fluid and eloquent. He uses a lot of archaic, obsolete words whenever he can (or maybe they just find their way into his speech). He talks easily and with clear annunciation.
When angry, Lawrence's speech is a lot quicker, less eloquent and more abusive than anything. He'll often lose himself in his frustration and might even hesitate when something he's trying to say doesn't come out as well as he'd like, but he never stops himself because his anger keeps him going on. He's very fueled by his emotions.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
No. Not particularly.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Lawrence speaks English, some amount of French and some Spanish. There may be German mixed in there, as well. He WAS going to be a businessman once, after all?
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
No.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He's usually a very good impromptu speaker, unless angered. Then he must think a little more on his word choice but usually... he doesn't.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Eloquent, unless angered. Then it all goes down the proverbial tubes.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Lawrence is extremely smart book-wise. When it comes to street smarts, he couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He thinks on his feet unless the decision is really important. Even then, he won't let anyone knows he needs time to think it through. He'll just deliberate to himself unless it's prodded on. Then he might tell the person that he needs time, and he might do it in an annoyed tone of voice.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Lawrence's thought processes are logical... for the most part. When jumping to conflusion, the logic goes right out the window and he's fueled by both assumptions and what he chooses to believe. He has a difficult time separating his beliefs from his declarations, and it often shows to anyone who talks to him long enough. He's very practical in his thinking, however.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
He's been homeschooled all his life with the exception of going to Adessi.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
His skills are largely in reading, writing, and deductive reasoning. When not angered or flying from one point to the next, Lawrence can think things through on his own. He's interested in learning things that pertain to his ultimate goal of being a detective. Nothing more, nothing less.
He's also very skilled in word usage. Definitions can be recalled very easily from the top of his head most of the time.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introverted. I'm not even sure Lawrence knows the word extroverted exists.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Even when happy, there is always a tinge of melancholia to Lawrence. Try as he might, he can't hide it no matter what he does. Somewhat expected, of course, as deep down he hates himself and nothing he can do will change that.
He's extremely driven, though whether that drive comes from his own desire to succeed or not is questionable.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Hahahaha. Lawrence could not be more suspicious about new people and new situations. He is naturally suspicious, even when he tries not to be, of anyone who tries to approach him. These issues stem from his time at the Orphanage. He's never relaxed, ever. Even when at rest, he cannot relax and looks uncomfortable to anyone who observes him. He's never enthusiastic. Ever.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Lawrence is more likely to react than he is to act, UNLESS someone is in danger. He does have his morals.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Lawrence chooses to fight rather than run away, especially in arguments. He will never back down unless it occurs to him that he has been completely, utterly, and totally defeated. Until then, it's full speed ahead.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
None of the above. Lawrence rarely ever laughs at anything.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Not mental per se, but he has been diagnosed to have social anxiety disorder. For a while, he saw a therapist. But when Heinrich saw that the therapy was ineffective he fired him on the spot. This has, by no means, been beneficial to Lawrence.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
The car accident that took his parents away has defined mostly everything about him as a person. The Orphanage did some part of the rest. Heinrich helped quite a bit, as well. And summer camp.
14. What does he fear?
Vehicles. He is absolutely terrified of them. If he has to, he will run wherever he needs to go, even if he is late getting there (which says something because he's pretty damn punctual.)
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
Lawrence's biggest aspiration is to become a detective. It is that sole desire that drives him.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
Many things. He doesn't want anyone to know about Rose and Alan, and especially doesn't want anyone to know that he came from an Orphanage. Lawrence has more or less buried all of those memories deep, deep within himself and they will not resurface without a trigger of some sort. (IF YOU PLAYED BEFORE YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MIGHT BE---/shot)
Most of all, though, Lawrence doesn't want anyone to find out he has authored his own tragedy. Put more simply, he doesn't want anyone to know about the intense amount of hatred he feels towards himself, or about the responsibility he feels towards the demise of his parents. Additionally, he doesn't want anyone to know that he secretly just wants the rest of the world to burst into flames. Secretly, Lawrence hates everyone--every. one.--except for Heinrich.
He also wants nobody to know about the fact that his chronic loathing for himself has developed something of a dissociative nihilistic side within him. He's deeply ashamed to admit that he believes there truly is no hope... for anything, or anyone. Especially himself.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Lawrence was too young to develop much of a relationship with his parents, but he remembers Rose and Alan as very loving people. Unfortunately for Lawrence, that may not be the case.
Heinrich's officially Lawrence's parent, and their relationship could not be better. Lawrence respects and trusts Heinrich a great deal, and Heinrich cares about Lawrence as if he had a blood relation to the boy. Unfortunately, his care goes a little too far sometimes and things like summer camp happen.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Hahaha. That's a question in of itself, isn't it? As far as Lawrence knows, he has no siblings. If he did, he has forgotten about them entirely.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
Lawrence's primary parents are dead. His other family lives somewhere in Conneticuit, but he has no idea where and has not tried to find them, perhaps because he doesn't even know about them.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
No.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Lawrence's only best friend is Heinrich.
6. Does he have other close friends?
No.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Lawrence does not make friends easily at all. He has some significant trouble getting along withpeople because of his social anxiety disorder, so he prefers to stay away from them.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family. Or rather, the family he has come to know.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
None of the above. He's never had any of those relationships.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
LOLOLOL. No.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
He has never even had one.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Lawrence has no interest in romantic partners.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No. And no.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
His only enemy at present is his current roommate Ezra.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the
Kinsey scale?
Lawrence is undeniably straight. He doesn't care about any of this, though.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He doesn't even think of it. In fact, he probably doesn't even know the word. He could really care less. (And not just because the person playing him could care less, either!)
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
WHY. SERIOUSLY. Lawrence doesn't know any of those.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (
zodiac of
choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
Yep. Lawrence fits sagittarius extremely well because he is really solitary and keeps to himself.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Neither. Heinrich encouraged Lawrence to choose his own beliefs and Lawrence determined that spiritual beliefs are illogical. They are entirely unimportant.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Yes. Lawrence believes in doing the right thing and absolutely refuses to tell a lie. Heinrich raised him to believe that proper businessmen do not tell lies because they have no need for them.
His moral complex was developed in part by Heinrich's teachings and in part by those of one of his tutors, whom shall remain nameless.
To compromise his moral complex, there would have to be a severe moral dilemma before him. And I can't even begin to articulate what that could possibly be.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Very intolerant. He despises people who have no moral guidelines in their lives.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He hates people who make themselves out to be delinquents and despises illogical and lazy people. They are largely irrational, though the thing about delinquents has a good reason (or so he perceives.)
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Heinrich worries about all of that and the man is totally loaded.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
His social status is technically high class. But then again, it always was. Rose and Alan were well off themselves.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
In a mansion. In the forest.
Other than that, at Adessi's dorms.
And no, he does not share it with others. Who does he have to share it with?
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Clothes. Books. Detective paraphernalia. Fine journals. Random things like that.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He goes to school, and he excells at it.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
His biggest interest is reading. His hobby is writing. This is how he spends his free time.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Lawrence has no particular food that he dislikes, but he prefers to eat on the healthier side of things. That's probably the only thing remotely healthy about him.
Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:
1. Colors? Darker colors. Any dark blues, dark reds or dark greens. He's also partial to black. And white (though only in extreme circumstances.) The brightest thing Lawrence wears is the emerald broach on his cravat. This broach is a heirloom of his mother's, given to him after she passed as dictated by her will. He pinned it there possibly to remind him of his parents, but more likely to keep the sins he 'committed' fresh in his mind.
2. Smell? don't really know. Something girlish I'd assume, like vanilla or lavender. Wouldn't surprise me with Lawrence.
3. Time of day? Evening. He gets most of his reading done without being disturbed then.
4. Season? The only season that sticks out in my mind is fall. He hates it.
5. Book? Lawrence has no favorite book per se, but if he had to choose one it would probably be the Hound of the Baskervilles.
6. Music? Lawrence could really care less about music.
7. Place? Favorite: Pleiades Mansion. Least favorite: The forest outside of Pleiades Mansion, and the Orphanage.
8. Substance? Tea.
9. Plant? I can see Lawrence liking no flowers, but if I had to choose one the rose probably sticks out best.
10. Animal? He hates all animals. HATES. THEM.
