yeah so, it's been a really long time... i'm only posting this on lj because i happen to like all the people with access to my lj (sadly not the case for myspace/facebook)
i've sort of been in hiding the past few weeks because my life recently turned to shit and i didn't want anyone to know. but as of today, it's actually kind of funny. in short: i may end up still working at erc next year. basically i didn't get into grad school. and stephen did. so.. awkward. and my doctor recently breached our privacy agreement so i'm feeling both violated and potentially cancerous. and i even got that stupid vaccine!! (if you know what i'm talking about, then you know what i'm talking about.) anyway, all bad news for me.
then this morning, my phone was completely out of batteries even though it was allegedly charging.. thus, i slept through my alarm, and by the time i woke up i forgot why i was supposed to wake up in the first place (which was to babysit for my voice teacher who is moving), and i went into a frenzy trying to figure out my phone.. so i bought another charger from target and that one didn't work, so i tried to go to the verizon store and they were closed until monday. ridiculous. then i came home and wanted to laundry but the detergent mysteriously disappeared.. and that's when i decided that it's just funny.
i mean, for the past couple of years, i've been hemming and hawing about the ills of going out and partying all the time. i've been going to bed early and studying like a crazy person and trying to take advantage of every opportunity just so i wouldn't have to stay here in athens, working on the corner of jackson and broad forever.
i graduated with a 3.95 GPA. i made a 1450 on the GRE. and i STILL didn't get into grad school. (i'm first alternate at michigan.. funny story. 10 of us were flown in to interview, and we all had to have, like, a platform.. as in, a reason to study language in the first place. mine was immigrant rights. ironically, the guy who got my spot wasn't even at the interview. he was interviewed over the phone, as he lives in china. guess the panel figured i would have wanted it that way).
anyway. boo. i'll find out about teach for america on monday, but don't hold your breath. i'm fairly sure that this is all just a sign that i should just re-evaluate my priorities for a while. whatever it is, it's so disappointing that it's frikin HILARIOUS.
hahahhaa..haha..haha WAAAAAAH
