I'm afraid there are cases like that no matter where you are. Even in my own world, my team had to deal with the dangers of police corruption, and it cost us one of our own.

But that's why we continue to solve cases, especially the ones the police won't touch. The victims can't always speak for themselves, and they deserve a voice.

There's an oft-quoted saying that, while a bit cliche, seems to be appropriate here: "It is always darkest just before the dawn." We have our work cut out for us, but that's only more reason why we need to keep at this. Not everyone in Neon is corrupt, and they deserve to have people trying to protect them and bring them much-needed justice.

Time will only tell. But everyday, we're getting a little more of the city out from under the mobs' control with every crime we solve. Everyday, the people of the city have a little less to worry about. And maybe, someday, Neon will be able to save herself.
