Remember how my girlfriend is awesome? She just leveled up.

So, I'm attempting (pathetically) to get this paper done for next week so I can go to work this afternoon, and girlfriend calls. Delighted by the distraction, I pick up and we talk for a while. She finally says, "So, uh, you're not busy the Sunday after next, are you?" The answer is, of course, no, because I'm more than glad to slack off school and ( Read more... )

I have never seen rent. I think that means I fail at being bi.

Also, seriously, can I have your girlfriend? Cause she sounds awesome :)

I'm terrible at sharing, sorry. *grabby hands*

And you've never seen RENT? Seriously? Because even with bad actors it's great. With good ones it's fucking amazing. The movie, however, was not an accurate translation of the show at ALL, except for every single scene Anthony Rapp was in, because he is amazing and dorky and I love him profoundly. /theater geekery.

Though I'm not sure it means you fail at being bi. After all, the only openly bisexual character (Maureen) is also the group slut, which is a stereotype that's always pissed me off. *is bitter* They portray even that in a mostly positive light, though, so it's largely forgiven.

Still, it's a fabulous show.

I always keep meaning to, but I either just can't afford it when it's around, or I forget to buy tickets and just -- yeah. Never seen it. And since I haven't seen it, I haven't let myself listen to the music because I know that'll change my enjoyment of the show (I went through Phantom with that; why yes, I am a musical theater person *facepalms*) and I'd rather see it all together once.

And yeah, I had no desire to see the movie for exactly that reason.

And clearly, that's another way I fail at being bi because slutty? I'm kinda really not :D

(also, I should've said before, I am totally greedily waiting to see what you say about OFS because I seriously love it more than anything else -- and this makes me more of a freak, I know, it's okay -- but you have school. And a life. And, you know, stuff that takes total precidence over my ego *g*)

See, the problem is, I like OFS too much to just babble about it and call that commentary, so I keep adding stuff and rewording things so it's not just "SQUEE OMG LADYCAT IS AWESOME" - which might be good for your ego but doesn't do justice to the thinky-ness of the fic.

So it'll be late. But I work on it in between doing this whole fucking grad school thing. (Seriously, I don't need a master's. Really. I could just quit, and write fic and work as a research assistant forever. Only...not.)

Also, ditto on the not-slutty-but-bi thing. I mean. I've dated six people ever, which is not nearly enough to count as a tramp. :)

I have to agree with you that it's better to see the show before hearing the music - even though the music is fucking awesome. In this one, especially, the context of a lot of the songs is lost. I'd still recommend seeing it, and then getting the original Broadway cast recording of the songs because they're just that great. :)

Also, we're having two conversations at once. Does this seem inefficient to you?

N'aawwww, I like now she's acting like she's doing you a favor by watching SGA with you, when really we know that she's already hooked on it. Cute!

Also? I am totally envious that you get to go see Rent. It's been entirely too long since I've seen it. Tom Collins is my favorite, though that's probably more due to Jesse Martin than anything else.

Um, yeah, Jesse Martin = piles and piles of love. In the version we're seeing, it's a guy from season three (?) of American Idol playing Collins, who I actually adored on that show, so hopefully he'll be great. I always miss the OBC when I see it, of course, but apparently the ones they have now are good, too, so we'll see.

Yeah, she's all, "Well, if I put up with your scifi," and I'm going, "You asked for back episodes! Don't pretend you didn't like it!"

Everything is so much lovelier in life when you've got a hot girlfriend having borgified moments with you.
;)

I'm sure you'll make sure to give her an extra-special "thank-you" for the what-you-know-will-be awesome night. :D

Yup, your girlfriend's awesome.

Oh, most assuredly, she'll get a big, dramatic thank you. Of one sort or another. *winkwink* *nudgenudge* :D
