"A screaming comes across the sky..."

Ok, this should be simple. I have an opportunity (a small one) of getting published (in a relatively small way). All I need is one to three stories within a week. Easy. All I need to do is sit down Tuesday or Wednesday and really concentrate. I'm certain I won't get published, but how lame would it be not to try ( Read more... )

You will sit down, you will write, and you will, as those who came before me have said "slap that fucker into a manilla envelope and send it off".

I have NOT once, read a story that you have written, due to the suicidal nature that plunders them after being brought into this world.
Thats like aborting Tom Waits, or Conor Oberst with a coat hanger.... do you realize the pain you cause me?

Except you wouldnt label it after someone elses name because it would be too original to be re-named. And i know this merely because i have read the posts that you have put on this here sob story infested "live journal"... as many people choose to use it.
Back to the good stuff.

...I can agree in many senses your beliefs in destroying your work after finishing it. Not only does it make you appear to be dark and mysterious, im sure it makes your creativity unbound, as you have said.

However, i also see the cons in the situation... maybe you have wayed the pros and cons already, and found that the pros of destroying it all outweighed the rest..
But it does make it harder to progress as a writer. Youll never be able to reflect on something you have written again. Or fix the things you disliked about looking at something you had written.

and im SURE you would learn not to jump around as much as I do when im writing ANYTHING.
which you dont actually have a problem with, i just wanted to incorporate my lack of writing skills into this somehow without furthering my past point.

....what im tryin to say is, i believe that you are a great writer, and you should hastely pursue progressing in that. especially if its what you love doing.
a lot of exteremely intellegent people get convinced that they dont have what it takes, or they are in some way in-capable of making thier passion come to life...
I would hate for that to happen to you, being a close friend, and a person with a lot of potential.
So im here to give you the inspiration, and any help you need to get out there.

p.s.
i pleasure em with my tongue!

p.p.s.
i realize that may sound dirty to anyone who isnt Ethan...

My reply to this is in the form of a post called "So cool, the computer wouldn't let me make it a reply!" on my main page. Go read. I hear it's all the rage in London.
