hi. Its been a while.
You see the lyrics above? Theyre from the new Keane album, Under The Iron Sea which was released today. And which I bought.
here is my review of the bands second album...
Keane "Under The Iron Sea"
It was difficult to see how keane would top its debut and 5 million selling record "Hopes and Fears". And "Under The Iron Sea" did indeed go under the line of second albums that didn't quite make the top. It is a strong album, I will not underestimate it, but as critics anticipated, not a strong enough follow up. But I mean, how could anyone top "hopes and fears"?. "Under The Iron Sea" still has many great songs, like "nothing in my way", bad dream", "try again" and radio friendly " is it any wonder".
The album's sound is different and more exploring than the previous. Though Tom Chaplins alarming and at the same time soothing voice wraps it all together nicely. "The Hamburger Song" feels a bit misplaced, as I can't get my mind around it. The first part of the album is undoubtetly the best, with songs that are essential "Keane". The second part are in my opinion much weaker, with only the melancholic "try again" which brings the standard up. It is also in this song, Tom Chaplin gives his best vocal performance IMO.
All in all, for me,a eager keane fan, it was worth the wait. If youre not as exted about these british lads as I am, I would put the buy on a halt before listening to the songs first.
