WISHLIST season omg.
I've seen a few of these go up, so I figure I'll join the fun. :)
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. Paid LJ time/extra icons.
2. New layout. I Love Love Love having shiny layouts, but I've gotten so lazy about working up the coding myself.
3. Fic! Slash, het, whatever, most particularly from the SG1, SGA, BSG, Harry Potter and House fandoms. Oh and the old LotRps will always be a near and dear favorite. ;)
4. Doodles! Cartoons! Art! I love getting art of any skill level. Honest! I put it up around my room and feel loved. :D
5. Wallpapers! Widescreen (1280x800pixels) of any of my fandoms. If you aren't sure of my fandoms, just ask. :) But especially of the non-scifi ones... I adore the scifi, but that's the fandom that most people are aware of widescreen formats in. The others kinds forget about us. XD
6. BPAL imps. I've got
a list here, but if you have one you're tired of/decided wasn't your scent, I'd love to try it to! Its so hard to pick and choose with all those options! ALSO: I love normal perfume samples from department stores or sephora or whatever. Even just the cards sprayed with scent, cause they're fun to put in the top dresser drawer and scent the socks and underware. ;)
7. Anything off my
Amazon wishlist. Its huge and scary, but at least I'm... thorough? Also note that it might lead to a good spin off idea. ("Oh, I have something like that I never use..." etc)
8. Coffee.
9. Teacher supplies.
10. Anything knitting. Something knitted, lessons on how to knit, stuff to knit once I know how, etc.
11. A basic bartender kit and/or the stuff to make your favorite cocktail and/or the recipe of your favorite cocktail.
12. Favorite family recipies. Now that I have a full kitchen I fully intend to make use of it.
13. Josh Groban. Well, ok if not him himself, then
pink shirt,
blue shirt,
POSTER, tickets/money for tickets :P, autograph, new pictures I'm not likely to have seen, something you made of/with/about him, etc etc etc.
14. Elbow or higher length gloves. Satin, lace, leather (though not about the elbow on those o.0) whatever. Black would be most useful, but deep colors (plum? blue? green?) or a rich brown would also be lovely. Prefer not white or ivory... little to bridal and likely to get really dirty looking. Also knee high socks. It was on there last year, and I'm no less addicted.
15.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.I don't care what edition, I'm not that picky about condition (though not falling apart would be nice). Happen to have one lying around the house that you don't want anymore? Send it on.
I know I always go overboard on these... but I LOVE giving gifts, so when I see long lists I just see lots of chances to find something that will really make the person happy. I hope you see this as me giving options, not expectations or greed.
And because I LOVE giving... LINK ME TO YOUR LISTS. I will not think you look greedy, I will be so excited you shared! :D :D
