stupid little hole!!!!
Just landed from my pre-eval flight. The one that I woke up at 4 am to catch. I get there, go through my preflight, and as i'm waiting for us to taxi to the runway, the flight deck discovers a hydrolic pump failure in the #2 engine. We don't takeoff til about 9:30. And then, once we're airborne, we discover a hole around the hinge of the door about 5 feet from my station. We continue anyway, with a hole big enough to stick your fist through, that you can see light from the otherside as clear as a window, up to 29,000 feet. For the whole 8 hour flight, I can't hear anything my instructor says to me, the wind noise is so loud. He can't question me and because he can't ask me anything, he can't prepare me for my checkride next thursday. This flight was not effective for me, and I have to redo it next week. All because of a little hole in the side of the jet.
