First let me apologize because I'm still an LJ noob and overlooked turning on anon. Will do. And second, LJ didn't let me log in in California, so that's why this reply is late. (I take it you were aware of my hiatus.)

I was aware of this issue, and no, I did not choose his name after Björk's son's name because that is creepy. However, I can give you my spiel of how I chose his name.

Using BehindTheName, I tried to find a name that seemed to match the other Hetalia names-- often not terribly popular as modern names, but names with a bit of a meaning. Sindri as a name "Possibly means either "small, trivial" or else "sparkling" in Old Norse. In Norse legend this was the name of a dwarf who, with his brother Brokk, made many magical items for the gods."

I figured small and trivial could be equated to his historical presence (not the most polite way to put it, but it fit) and sparkling seemed like something cute they gave him that he's trying to shrug off. Thirdly, his face seemed like it could be a Sindri to me, which is possibly the most important part of choosing a name anyway. :P So I chose Sindri.

Then, as Iceland being what he is cannot have a proper Icelandic patronym, I figured using a god's name (which happen to be used as given names anyway) would be a good enough cover up, which is what the human names are anyways. It fit with Sindri as far as sounding okay, so that's what his name became.

Of course, about last March I figured out that it happened to be Björk's son's name, but I was already in the game and had been since December, and it wouldn't really make much sense to randomly change his name, or canon update him for something that isn't even technically canon. I considered just taking out his name entirely, but I had other things I had to focus on so it got pushed to the back-burner. But I have rped Iceland elsewhere since, and ones I've started since I call him Sigurður instead.

Sorry the explanation isn't very brief! (And if I'm breaking an unspoken LJ rule by replying and therefore unscreening this comment, I apologize because to be completely honest, I'm not really quite sure how to reply anyway.)

Oh okay thanks for telling me. It did seem odd that he had the same name as an Icelandic singer, but I completely understand. I was aware that Iceland did not have an official name and this seemed weird to me.

Sorry for any pressure or anything!
