It is with a heart saddened to the point of breaking that I share with you all the passing of Poni Kamauu, my teacher, friend, mentor, and big brother. All who knew him were made better by it, and those lucky enough to hear his teachings came away changed, awakened to the power of Spirit and the glory of our Hawaiian host culture.
He came to me as teacher, helped nurture and guide my Spirit as it awakened, recognized in me the calling that pulled me ever deeper into ministry, and laughed with me and chanted with me and prayed with me and sang with me and loved me every day of our time together.
I know that I will carry on and make it, because he trained me well and prepared me for his passing, but for now I am unable to do anything except grieve. The world has lost a great man. I have lost my big brother.
