First she had gotten left.

She knew he meant well. He was being the bloody Doctor and doing what he had to do, but the bottom line was that he left her. Then she found her way back to him, she found her way back home, and she saved him. It didn't matter what she had to do to, or what it might have done to her body and mind, she had to save him.

He wasn't just the Doctor. He never had been. He was...everything. He gave her a new life, a new way to live, and she loved him for it. He meant something to her in a way that she couldn't put into words.

She needed him. And stubborn as he was, she knew he needed her too.

She knew he didn't leave her to hurt her. They were Rose and the Doctor, and they had the whole world, all of time, ahead of them. She was going to stay with him for as long as she could help it.

And when she realized something was changing, she didn't know what to think about it. She didn't understand his regeneration yet. He hadn't explained it. She just knew that the man she knew was fading away, she was losing him.

The new man that stood before her, he was still the Doctor, but he wasn't her Doctor. Not yet. He was just a man who looked like a stranger, but spoke to her like her friend. And there wasn't time to figure it out or find the familiarity, before she woke up somewhere else.

She woke up with water in her lungs and an ocean trying to chew her up. She looked around, confused, and quickly paddled to shore. She had no idea where she was or what had happened. It wasn't the first time of course, but it was never exactly settling.

Rose stumbled into the sand and fell to her knees. Nothing looked familiar, but nothing looked too out of place either. Her heart pounded in her chest, a tune she hated. The tune that the Doctor was no where in sight.

"D-Doctor," she called. Only it came out in a gasp. She coughed and tried again. "Doctor! Doctor, where are you?"

It didn't matter what he looked like. She just needed him to be there. She needed to know that wherever they had landed he was safe, and that he would make sure she was too.

She needed her friend.
