His heart is racing and his breathing is nearly as quickened. He's been trying to focus on her all evening and not what he wants to do to her. What her dress is doing to him.
He stops kissing her neck just long enough to unceremoniously move the food out of the way. Then he pulls her completely into his lap. He continues kissing her, moving slowly down her neck and then her chest. One hand is just under the skirt of her dress, just resting there on her leg. The other is on her arm as his kisses move ever lower and lower. When he reaches the fabric of her dress, he continues any way. Just pressing the fabric against her skin.
"Juliet," he says, as he reaches her stomach. "There's a risk I have to tell you." Every other word is interrupted with a kiss.
It never fails to amaze her, how much he turns her on, how she always wants him, and her fingers thread through his hair as he kisses her. She rocks her hips against his just slightly.
"I'm listen-listening," she manages. Her own mouth finds a spot on his neck, and she looks for the spots she's studied over the past three years. The spots that make him hers.
He's distracted for a moment by her warm mouth on his neck. He turns so he can catch her mouth with his own. He'll never tire of the way she kisses him or the feel of his tongue on hers.
"There's a very real risk that I might impregnate you." He uses the word impregnate despite the very clinic sound. It just sounds wrong and nothing at all how he'd describe it. There's nothing sensual to the word, but everything is sensual about Juliet.
His hands have slid under her dress now and are caressing her supple curves.
Juliet can't help but snort a little at his choice of words, but she keeps rocking against him, reaching down to cup him through his pants before her fingers work on his zipper.
"That's a risk I'm willing to take with you. Only with you. Always with you."
She finds his mouth again, rocking with intent against him now as her hands move underneath his shirt so that her fingernails drag over his skin.
He's been so caught up in her, everything she's doing to him. And the fact that she wants to have more than one Elizabeth running around that he's let his guard down entirely.
It's a really stupid mistake. He's a V not a human, yet he's done it anyway.
"What's going on here?" an authoritative voice asks, right after a blinding light is shone in their eyes. Joshua's heart nearly stops. He takes a moment and then squints in the direction of the light, he puts a hand up in an attempt to stop the light from blinding him. After a moment, he can make out the silhouette of a police car.
"I'm sorry, Officer," he replies. "What seems to be the problem?"
Juliet turns to look over her shoulder and bites back a snort of laughter. She can't believe that they've been caught, and she extracts herself from Joshua's lap.
"We were just...having a picnic. For my birthday. It's the first night we've been out since our baby was born," she explains, hoping for a little bit of empathy from the officer.
Praying that he doesn't arrest them both for indecent exposure.
Joshua finds nothing humorous about the situation at all. He's beyond mortified and feeling extremely exposed. The cop could easily have been someone looking for them. Not that he couldn't still be a V sleeper agent. The odds of that, however, were steadily dropping by the second.
"I see," the police officer replies. He's just out on patrol and they seem like nice enough folks. "I'm going to need to see some i.d." Document everything is the way he plays it. And he'll run their names.
Luckily, the names run won't flag anyone looking for Joshua of Juliet. And nothing comes up on the names he does run. Soon he's got them packed up and is sending them on their way with just a warning. "These areas are off limits for those type of activities. If you need a night out away from the baby, then maybe you should get a hotel room."
They pull away much to Joshua's chagrin. He's hiding is embarrassment well, but it's pretty evident to anyone who knows him, especially his wife.
Once they're in the car, it's about five minutes before Juliet loses it completely. Laughing loudly, she's damn near close to tears she's laughing so hard, and she's apologizing at the same time because she knows Joshua is embarrassed. She is too, but there's nothing they can do about the situation, so they might as well laugh.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I don't mean to laugh, it's just...we got caught like two teenagers back there."
Her laughter has always been infectious to him. Even now, as embarrassed as he is, he find himself smiling and then laughing too. "At least we didn't go skinny dipping," he says.
"Sorry for ruining your birthday," he says, still laughing about the whole thing.

"You cannot tell Erica," he replies, getting mortified all over again. Though he entertains no doubt that it'll be the first thing Juliet says when they get home.
He glances down at her on his thigh and then grins at her. He takes her hand into his and brings it up so he can kiss it. "You asked me and I never gave you a direct answer. Yes, I want another Elizabeth."
He wants to remember this night. Maybe not for getting busted like two hormonal teens, but for making the decision to expand their family on purpose this time.
Juliet doesn't promise to not tell Erica, because she definitely will tell Erica. She does have the decency to not gossip about it with Joshua right in the room though, so that she won't do.
She grins at his answer, and when they stop at a red light she leans over to kiss him deeply. When the light turns green, she pulls back but keeps her hand in his until he needs it.
"Find us a hotel, Joshua," she says, and her eyes are closed as her head rests against the seat and a smile still plays on her features.
