Anne had found the butter churn -- very basic and homemade, but very nearly what she would have used back at Green Gables -- in the compound, where someone obviously kept it to protect it from the elements. Billy gave Anne a wave as he approached, dressed loosely and comfortably in a pair of baggy shorts, a t-shirt, and his cowboy hat. "Heya, teach," he grinned. "I see you found the butter churn."

At least that's what Billy assumed it was. It looked like the ones he'd seen on tv.

"Hi Billy," she said, patting the ground next to her, though likely one of them was going to need to stand to operate the churn. She wondered if she mightn't be able to make something smaller, out of her empty jar, though she could only make a little butter at a time with it. "Yes, I'm completely prepared for our meeting today."

Billy sat down next to her, drawing his knees up to his chest and draping his arms over them. "Great! What's on the agenda then?"

Billy was pretty eager to start. Between Anne and the IPD, it was the first time he'd had any sort of responsibility or schedule on the island since he'd arrived.

Anne reached into her pocket and handed over one of the two books, the one that was far more precious to her. "I had this with me when I arrived here," she told him. "I thought it might make a good place for us to begin, as I know most of it quite by heart. I thought perhaps you could read the first poem aloud to me, while I get the churn going, and then we can discuss it."
