ho... Just popping in and I was told to try to phrase this question in a humourous way, so here it goes:
"So, are there any actual religious symbolism in those mosaic tiles, or were they put there so all the prayer folk can fall into a dizzified bliss state?"

That said, I'm taking a course in Islamic Art History, and I'm currently up to the nostrils in more math than I have seen in years and beyond that, the teacher isn't really going too deeply in the religious implications of the color choice/pattern stylistics/etc... except to mention that some religious sects do prescribe specific meanings to them. I was jsut curious if any of you lot might know of some in a slightly easier to understand way of explaining tht..er.. doesn't require math.
[edit] A little more specifically--- are there meanings behind color use and placement of the color, or why something would be applied with certain shapes, etc?
