I agree with you, I think what the author was trying to get to is that it's okay if you are living a comfortable enough life to choose to stay at home and there's no shame in it. A lot of the time you get women that look down on mothers that choose to stay home and raise their children, as if they're not worthy. I honestly cannot see myself like that in the future for various reasons, but I wouldn't think a woman who chose to stay at home and look after her kids is somehow less worthy than me. (Not saying you would haha)

Also the world we live in today, with the financial strain families have to live under, it puts far too much pressure on the father to be the sole 'bread winner'. With my parents it's a 70-30% in terms of finance, my mum has a small and flexible job where she can at least earn money to buy the things she wants or help pay 1 or 2 bills and although it's not loads it still relieves some pressure off my father. In comparison to some, not all, of my extended families, their relationships have been strained to a near point of divorce because the men are working ridiculous shifts and like you said, if something were ought to happen their wives have no experience or education to help support herself.
