New housedress

Here’s the first of the two housedresses I bought from Green Dragon Lady Vintage on Etsy. It was sewn sometimes before 1944 and is very simple. It seems to have been cut to be buttoned down the front, but then someone decided against it and sewed the skirt together, closing the bodice with snaps. It is not particulary well-made- clearly something thrown together to be worn at home. (If anyone wonder, the seller was upfront with this and the dress wasn’t expensive.) For example, one pair of snaps are sewn in asymmetrical and there are too few of them, so if I want to wear this I need to change that and add a few.

The fabric is a novelty print, sold as a cotton blend, but I think its pure cotton. It’s very nice to wear and it fits nicely. It doesn’t seem to have been worn much, but there are q few spots that looks like coffee stains, but they busy pattern makes them rather invisible. Due to those I won’t be wearing this dress at work, but it will be very nice to wear at home, especially when the weather grows hot.

I still haven’t got around buying a tripod, but I bribed my son with some chocolate to take these pictures.

And, of course, all the dogs had to be around.
