18th century make-up revisited

Aug 03, 2010 13:26

Remember my post on 18th century make-up? Well, now I have played around a bit more with modern make-up. After all, that is what most of us usually use. So, below is not one, but two, yes, I said two, versions of an 18th century make-up.

Behold )

Oh, lots of fun! Thank you! I too will experiment with what I have. I may not go for the full 'blushing ghost' look, but this has given me some neat ideas...

I now need to find some unscented talcum powder!

What did you use for the Beauty Spot?

"Blushing ghost" look- that's a great expression! I ususally don't go for it either, but at times it's fun.

I use talcum for babies.

I simply punched a hole in a piece of black paper... It's glues on with glue for false eyelashes.

Hm... I wonder if I could stick some black fabric to one side of the 'boob tape' and punch holes in that? If that works, it might be worth investing in one of those things that punches different shaped holes for card making. I know different shaped and placed patches meant different things, but I can't remember what! I'll see if I can dig something out of these interwebby things...

I've tried to punch out black taffeta and it works, kinda. You have to stiffen the fabric with glue or starch, or the fabric will frazzle(?). And the cutting tool must be pretty sharp. I've tried to use punching tools for paper andthey haven't worked at all. The one I use for this is simply the kind you use to punch hole in a paper so you can put it in a binder.

I can dig up a list for you, if you want to. :)

Oh, lovely! I use mineral foundation daily, so a paler shade is great, since they stick so very well. The shimmer is lovely.

Splendid. I have always used Goth White from Stargazer and OD'd on the Boots Cream Blusher for the embarrassed ghost look. Though I have occasionally used lipstick as blusher to get a nice red cheek.

I cheat and use Bindis for Beauty spots, (not authentic, but pretty, esp if you can find simple ones.)

I must look out for White mineral foundation, though. I do like a nice mineral foundation. I've not seen it in the UK.

Very period to use the same red on booth cheeks and lips!

I have a friend who use bindis and I always think that I should try. And always forgets to get them. :)
