Dear Trick-or-Treater!
I like: historical (if appropriate) and worldbuildy detail, scenery porn, what-if AUs, original characters, time travel, bodyswap, gen, het, slash, and femslash. In general I'm not a fan of AU that completely changes the setting, but if you have a brilliant idea, go for it; I would prefer "interesting" to "mundane" AUs, e.g., in SPAAAACE yes, coffeeshop no. (Coffeeshop in SPAAAACE, okay!).
In fic: I prefer past tense to present tense, though please don't feel constrained by this preference if your story really wants to be in present tense. I don't really care for second-person narration, but again, feel free to slip this preference if you have a fantastic idea.
In art: I like interesting compositions that include not just the characters but other things as well. I like both serious portraits and funny little cartoons! I have a soft spot for art in which one character is doing something typical-but-alarming, and the other is rolling his or her eyes, or reacting with horror, or getting ready to douse them with a bucket of water, or whatever.
Tricks I would like: ghost stories (either scary or sweet), supernatural elements, afterlife stories, relationships between living characters and ghosts/spirits/supernatural entities, meddling deities, magical objects that do surprising things.
Treats I would like: romance, friendship, wacky hijinks, first kisses, first times (of anything), comedy of errors, matchmaking. I don't mind explicit sex in fic, but I prefer more focus on the emotions than the physical mechanics.
I would prefer not to receive explicit horror (fic or art), any kink you'd specifically tag, or artwork that depicts explicit sex (NSFW R-rated is fine, NC17 showing genitals is not).
I am asking for either trick or treat, either art or fic, in all fandoms except for Mark of the Horse Lord and Vikings where I'm asking only for a trick (though considering the loose definitions, don't feel that means these stories must be unhappy - it's more that I'd like some element of the supernatural or afterlife in these fandoms). Specific fandom requests may contain spoilers, since in fandoms with canonical character death I'm mostly asking for ghostfic:
Code Name Verity - Elizabeth Wein (any)
I'd be happy with Maddie/Julie, Maddie/Jamie, or gen in this fandom, centered on any of these three characters. I would love to see either Maddie or Jamie (or both of them) haunted by Julie's ghost, either literally or figuratively - or an AU in which a different character is dead and doing the haunting. For a treat, just a happy moment from their lives. Either happy or unhappy works are fine with me. Airplanes optional but loved!
Mark of the Horse Lord - Rosemary Sutcliff (Conory, Murna, Midir, Phaedrus)
I would love to see any of the survivors of this book haunted by the ghosts of those who died, either literally or figuratively. Alternatively, I'd love to see those who died encountering each other in the afterlife - what would they talk about? Would they argue, would they forgive each other, would they confess to each other? Or any individual ghostly character, seeing what happened after their death - maybe a long time afterward. Some ideas: Conory being haunted by Midir and Phaedrus both, Phaedrus haunting Murna, Phaedrus and Midir meeting as ghosts, Liadhan haunting Murna. I ship Conory/Midir but don't require this. Either happy or unhappy works are fine with me.
Old Kingdom - Garth Nix (Lirael, Nicholas, Sameth)
One of my favorite parts of this series is how Nicholas starts out being totally skeptical of Charter Magic, and gradually realizes that it's real, after all. And then he acquires a tinge of Free Magic.... I'd love to see or read something involving magic with any of these characters, either together or singly. Maybe an unexpected consequence, or accidental manifestation, of magic? Bodyswap would be amazing, either among any of these characters or involving any other canon or original character. I ship Lirael/Nicholas and am be open to OT3, but any other pairs friendship only please. (I also ship Sam/Original Male Clayr if this inspires you - and man, would I ever love art of that.) I would prefer a happy work in this fandom.
ETA: I just remembered that Goldenhand is coming out in early October; I will probably not read it by Halloween, so a) don't worry if your story/art is consistent with the new canon, but b) if you do base your work on something in the new canon, please avoid major spoilers. I have read "The Creature in the Case."
Black Sails (Captain Flint, Charles Vane)
Poor Captain Flint's a haunted guy - and I'd love to see that literally! Haunted by Thomas, Miranda, Vane, Dufresne, anybody. Or maybe something goes awry and he's time-traveled into the future, or into the past. Alternatively, Vane as a ghost, haunting Blackbeard, Eleanor, Flint, anyone. Watching what happens after his death, or trying to interfere in events (maybe he doesn't realize he's a ghost?), or maybe having premonitions before his death as to what his fate will be; for a treat, his relationship with friend/mentor Blackbeard. I don't ship Flint/Vane but if you do, have fun. (I don't ship anything really outside of canon ships, but I don't object to any of them.) I do ship Flint/Lord John Gray from the Outlander series, and if you are inspired to write or illustrate this I will be delighted! Either happy or unhappy works are fine with me.
Vikings (TV) (Athelstan, Siggy, Ragnar, Floki)
I would love to see any of the survivors (so far) of this series haunted by the ghosts of those who died, either literally or figuratively. Alternatively, I'd love to see those who died encountering each other in the afterlife - what would they talk about? Would they argue, would they forgive each other, would they confess to each other? Some ideas: Athelstan haunting Ragnar or Floki, Siggy haunting Rollo or Lagertha, Siggy and Athelstan meeting in the afterlife trying to sort out their gods, Floki talking to the gods (and they talk back). I ship Athelstan/Ragnar(/Lagertha) and canon ships but am happy with gen here. Either happy or unhappy works are fine with me.
