no source, no problem

bironic made a fabulous "trailer" for Ann Leckie's book Ancillary Justice, and when I commented delightedly on her DW post she sent me to the setlist for the Vividcon "No Source? No Problem" vidshow (where this vid premiered). Which - wow! As someone who is mostly into book fandoms, I loved seeing how vidders have interpreted these sources.

Probably my favorites (along with
bironic's!) were In Dreams for The Raven Cycle, which - the vidder drew a bunch of illustrations and then put them together in a vid! And also When Brakes Get Wet for Code Name Verity, which is full of lovely Julie/Maddy emotions, and I like the song (which I'd never heard before), too. But I enjoyed most of the vids I watched, which were the ones for sources I knew, because (at least to me) canon knowledge is really important for filling in the narrative. (Not all the vids are linked, but a little googling got me the rest.) Mostly I'm hella impressed at how these vidders made, found, and/or manipulated sources to create vid trailers for these books, fics, and podcasts!
