Last night we saw The Battle of the Five Armies (yes, I know, the last people on this planet to do so) and were duly entertained. Random thoughts: I love what they did with Kili/Tauriel. Most of my fandoms involve character death, so. (Though I actually had thought there was a bigger dwarven bodycount in the book? ) I also loved the little shout-out to Aragorn at the end, and the glorious CGI, and Dain's beautiful hair and accent. And while I'd always been rather WTF at the whole Bilbo/Thorin thing, I can be so no longer, because it was pretty obvious that Peter Jackson ships it, too.

Also, B spotted that Dwalin is also Dougal McKenzie in Outlander. Hee! What different roles! And actually, while looking something else up I just realized that the actor who plays Bolg (the evil orc-leader dude) is in Marco Polo, in which he looks only slightly less fearsome.

riventhorn and I will be running
sutcliff_swap this year! She's just announced this year's schedule - signups will be in early April, which means I still have time to read a few of the books I haven't read yet, and so do YOU!

Speaking of Sutcliff,
chantefable and I have started a new community,
sutcliff_space. It's intended to serve as an equivalent of both sutcliff_fics and sutcliff_talk over here on the Dreamwidth side. If you're a Sutcliff fan and are interested in a Dreamwidth space to talk Sutcliff, please do join. If there's enough interest we might do some low-key challenges throughout the year.

I was glancing at Sutcliff works on AO3 this morning, and much to my astonishment I discovered that
marianas has podficced my Eagle of the Ninth story In Borcovicus! How cool is that? (I grant blanket permission for derivative works, though I do prefer people contact me to let me know they've done it.)

Speaking of derivative works,
akamine_chan is hosting an interesting 'reverse remix' fest. You can offer to remix stories in fandoms of your choosing, and writers then ask you to remix a particular story of theirs. I have thought about playing, though most of the participants are in different fandoms from me. However, if more people sign up, there will be more options!

Hmm. I am starting to have visions of a Sutcliff Remix fest....
