The other day it occurred to me that Marcus Flavius Aquila is basically Fraser. Duty, honor, daddy issues; raised by relatives, living in a foreign country. ETA: And how could I have forgotten - they both have pet wolves! And of course in the movie version he is played by a tall, broad-shouldered, dark-haired man. With a scrappy blond tattooed partner with whom he is secretly in love undertakes a quest to the North, searching for a near-legendary object.
I am NOT writing a due South/Eagle of the Ninth fusion. I am NOT.
I am writing again, though, and wow, I'm just - overwhelmed with happy good fandom feelings, as my first Eagle fic (didja miss it? It's
here on AO3, a bit of R-rated book-canon hurt/comfort) was gratifyingly well-received. It's a little scary to venture into a new fandom, especially after not having written anything other than porn-battle drabbles and Yuletide fic in years, but it's lovely to feel so welcomed and encouraged. And I am enjoying reading fanfiction again, oh, yes.
We are watching The Forsyte Saga, in which Major Dick Winters and Captain Horatio Hornblower love the same woman, and Sir Arthur Hill leaves his wife, instead of her leaving him as in Garrow's Law. Ah, British costume drama. Always a little odd to see actors you know from one thing in something else, until you get used to their new role.
Which reminds me that I wanted to put in a plug for
cumberbatch_fic, for all fandoms large and small with a Cumberbatch character (including RPF) - I'm not particularly into him or his work, but I know lots of you are and might be interested.
I am sure I had other things to say, but I am sick with a very bad sore throat and chest cold, and my brain is not firing on all cylinders. Time to drink more tea.
