trope meme

Dec 11, 2009 11:01

Snagged from splix, a meme which appealed to me because it's the time of year when I start looking back on what I have written and think about round-ups and things. A list of fanfiction tropes: bold what you've written and italicize what you've considered writing.

I'm not linking my stories individually, but if you are interested you can find them all at Hieroglyfics.

Genderswap: AHAHA. Being Ray Kowalski (DS) and What Fools These Mortals Be (HP).

Bodyswap: In addition to the above, Stranger than Fiction (DS) and (sort of) Double Occupancy (SGA)

Drunk!fic: Oral Sex/The Morning After (HP), Horizontal Mambo (DS), Superego (C6D RPF), The Morning After (Hornblower), Out of Exile (HCL/Wilby Wonderful)...um, I swear I write an occasional story in which my characters are sober.

Huddling together for warmth: Huh. Actually, no. Despite writing avalanche stories in two fandoms. Oh, wait, does sea of waking dreams (DS) count? It's canonical, though.

Undercover in a gay bar: Most of my fandoms don't have gay bars. Alas.

Pretending to be married: Hee, yes! In Want of a Wife (HP)

Secretly a virgin: Nope.

Amnesia: I have always wanted to write this, though!

Cross-dressing: Oddly, even though this is totally not my kink, I have written this in a lot of different fandoms: Ray Likes It Red (DS), Just Different (Wilby Wonderful/Whole New Thing), In Want of a Wife (HP).

Forced to share a bed: The Morning After (heh, both the HP and Hornblower stories of this name!)

Aliens make them do it: Nope.

Wingfic: Learning to Fly (DS)! Hahaha wingfic.

Mpreg: An Eye for an Eye (HP). But only because it was a holiday gift fic for an mpreg fan.

Mistakenly assumed to be gay: Mistakenly? Heh. No.

Let's play truth or dare: No.

Mary Sue fic: Heh. I make personal appearances in Stranger than Fiction (DS), Definitely Not in Kansas (C6D RPF), and A Small Request (HP), and a Mid-August Night's Dream (HP) is Snape/unnamed fanfiction author (although not me; it's intended to be luthien). But the classic Mary Sue is only in an HP drabble written for a Mary Sue challenge.

Aphrodisiacs: Mischief and Madness (HP) - this is a Potterverse version of A Midsummer Night's Dream, so, aphrodisiac in the sense of a "love potion" rather than a "substance which makes you want to have lots of sex."

Curtainfic: No. I tend to write (and read) first-time stories rather than any kind of established relationships.

Hurt/Comfort: Kiss It Better (HP) is really the only classic H/C I have written, I think.

Apocalypse fic: Call This World Home (Wilby Wonderful). Also a Last Night crossover, but that's canon.

Someone has a baby: Nope.

Baby!fic: I interpret this to mean, someone IS a baby, which, also no.

Telepathic soulbonding: Double Occupancy (SGA), that's a soulbonding fic, isn't it. Oh, dear.

Werewolves mate for life: a firm no on this one, despite a handful of werewolf stories.

So it appears that my stereotypical fic would involve cross-dressed people body-swapping while drunk. While I watch. Although I'm disappointed that time travel and tentacles weren't listed.

To add some real content, let me point you to something really cool that executrix linked the other day: model of London made from fruits and vegetables.
