too many things make a post

May 21, 2009 11:38

You know how it is. You have nothing to say for a couple of days, or a week, and suddenly: you have too many things to say, and you are probably not going to remember them all. And by you, I of course mean me ( Read more... )

meanderings, lj, unpopular fannish opinions, viewing, dreamwidth, reading, feedback

There is no frakkin' way I'm signing up for the anon feedback meme, partly because I don't feel I can trust it without a name attached, partly because I don't feel I could take the punishment. But I'm totally interested in point 3.1. You, I trust. :)

Well, if you can't take the punishment, you might not want my opinion. :-) (Er, not that I am intimating anything specific - as I recall I recced one of your stories not that long ago! But I tend to be, um, blunt.)

There's something very different about getting a blunt opinion from someone whose opinion you respect, than getting anonymous commentary from people whose good opinion you can't trust and whose bad commentary offers no constructiveness. I'm getting better at taking criticism, I think, and I really need the practice; I love getting positive comments, obviously, but they don't help me to improve, and I'm sick of my writing being so bland.

Which is to say, I'm still interested, even with bluntness. :D

The snowmen / LJ link thing has short-circuited my brain recently too.

And I'm just too much of a wimp for the concrit thingy from anonymous folks.

I am glad I am not the only person who goes Bwuh? at that.

And, I don't think that wimpiness has anything to do with it. Mostly it's a wuvvv-fest.

I just discovered a few days ago that our library has started (recently) offering a new downloadable audiobook option through the "Across Colorado Digital Consortium" and they have a whole bunch of stuff I can't get through Netlibrary.com, and I gleefully zeroed in on Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Mineral...and the stupid system doesn't recognize my library card number, and our library people said, when I called them, "oh, we've noticed that nobody seems to be able to log in, huh, isn't that weird?"

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, WEIRD! Sigh.

And OMG SHERLOCK HOLMES TRAILER.

I want my audiobooks! I want! WANT! If the library people don't call me back with some help, I shall, um. Maybe contact the website support email.

IS IT CHRISTMAS YET? WHAT ABOUT NOW??

Hee- the anon meme thing kinda cracks me up. But I'm trying to take it as a true invite to er- say anything. Which I do anyway, and I really kinda hate the idea you need to hide behind being anon in able to do that. So I left my only comment so far while signed in ( ... )

If I can say anything - why wouldn't I say anything, you know, ON THE ACTUAL STORY? Or by email to the person? I actually did this once - when people on my flist did the meme, I commented nonymously on their pointer posts.

(And I don't read much fic from my flist, either. Hmm. So, what fandoms are you into these days, if any?)

LOL- reading my LJ is now my main fannish activity. I just don't have the giant chunks of free time to devote to fandom anymore, and nothing currently is 'grabbing' me in that fannish way that causes me to MAKE TIME, DAMN IT!.

I do keep adding to my fanfic bookmarks- love the flist for recs and pointers. And I did wind up enjoying Merlin- which the flist totally turned me on to. Unfortunately, Uther was the one that hooked me. So it's not like there's much fan work that rings my bell there.

I have decided that 24 is my 'id show'- dang, watching the DVD's it's scary how bits of it just pound on my lizard brain. But again- not much fannish for me there.

Oh- and I am hoping for tons of fix-it fic for American Yakuza! Damn. I could get fannish about that, I kid you not. Alas, I fear it is not to be ( ... )

1. Do I have any idea who you are talking about? Wait, Simon Pegg was in Hot Fuzz, right?

3.etc Which is why the whole meme thing is pointless. Nobody will criticize the stuff that needs criticism, and if they do, they are dismissed because, hey, ANONYMOUS, why should I trust what you say? Phooey.

4.1 Oh, yeah? Did you know that this was crossposted from Dreamwidth? See, I actually code things properly when I post. (Using LJaddons, because I am not that masochistic.)

5.2 I think you mean outrageous. In the very best sense.

Now that I have seen her: Zoe Saldana is OMGHOT. And I say that as a mostly-but-not-entirely-straight girl.
