2008 fic year in review

Dec 23, 2008 15:42

I wasn't actually going to do this, but we are not leaving until tomorrow morning, and when I checked my fic tag thinking there would be only a single story, hey, I guess I wrote more than I remembered. Even if I finish my current projects soon I am not going to get the chance to post them before the end of the year, so I might as well do this one ( Read more... )

Ooh, I loved Stranger Than Fiction. *makes mental note to re-read* :-)

Eee, thanks! Of course, it's got YOU in it, too! :-)

Hee! There is that. I just loved how the self-insertion fics broke the fourth wall and played with narrative and stuff -- and yours did that particularly pleasingly, as I recall. :-)

Heh, I don't think I broke the fourth wall so much as took a wrecking ball to it and then stomped on the bits. La la la. Thank you kindly!

(and hee, I can see that it is terribly frustrating being off-time-zone from the majority of lj posters. *hits refresh again*)

Snowmobile Parts, at the end where the Rays are having desperate sex in front of blindfolded Fraser?

*is intrigued, despite knowing almost nothing about the fandom*

Hee, probably less intriguing than it sounds: http://isiscolo.livejournal.com/417328.html But I just reread it and you don't actually need to know anything about the fandom, I think!

Thank you for the link! I had to explain to a co-worker here what a mountie was the other day...

Omigosh, you're writing the sequel to Clarke's Law! I had given that up for lost. I'm looking forward to reading that someday. No pressure, though. The original is still out there on the internets whenever I get a craving.

Hope your holidays are lovely and the rest of your trip is filled with good times.

I am! This is the Sweet Charity fic that I am sadly overdue on; I am about a third of the way through, I think (it's going to be fairly long, although not as long as the original) but it is going slowly because I need to work very hard on keeping all the voices right, since I'm no longer immersed in them.

I'm not working on it while I'm in NZ because it's one story I really need what I've already written and more net resources to get right, but it will be my priority when I return, because I feel so horridly guilty for the girl who commissioned it in the first place.

Yay! I'm glad you did the year-end meme thing! And it's amusing me that so many people are saying, "Well, I wasn't going to do this because I haven't written anything this year, but then I checked and..."

We all underestimate our own productivity, I think :-)

And the Two Axes remix was amazing. I loved what you did with the structure. And "Stranger Than Fiction" was a hell of a lot of fun to read! Also, I realize now that I missed a few of your dS stories! I will now happily go and re-read.

Thanks for putting this together, Isis!

I love doing this meme - it's a nice review for myself, to think, "okay, what am I proud of, looking back?" And thanks again for giving me the chance to play with your story!

Definitely looking forward to your Aragorn/Boromir AU. (Well, yeah, it'd almost have to be an AU, unless it's set in the first half or so of the first book, or earlier. :) )

And if I ever knew you were working on a sequel to "Clarke's Law," I'd forgotte. O_O That's, like, one of my very favorite of your stories. Looking forward to that one even more than the A/B story. [beam]

Happy Winter Holiday of Choice! ;D

Hee, it definitely veers AU but in what I hope is a plausible way. And thanks for the encouragement on the other, I need it!
