margaritaville sans palm trees and sunshine

Last night it began to rain, and then sometime in the middle of the night it turned to snow, and now it's - well, I think it wants to be snow, but these are the reject flakes that flunked Snowing 101. It's really just glop. And it's still glopping. There's about an inch of stuff on the ground that if you scooped it up and added tequila, lime, and curacao, you'd have yourself a decent frozen margarita.

I am sure the roads are horrible, but yay, I get to stay in my nice warm house, working from home. Right now things are kind of crazy, not with my real work, exactly (which fortunately is casual part-time so I can let it drop at times like this) but with a sort of sideline venture I'm involved with, a local startup in which my husband and I are investors. I'm also doing their website, for which I don't exactly get paid but I get more shares, so if things succeed it will be worth something, and of course I'm assuming things will succeed because we have a great deal of money in it. The thing is, I'm really not a web designer or webmaster or any of these things, so I just kind of flail around, especially when I'm asked to do something I really don't know anything about. And especially when I'm asked, "oh, and can you have it running by this weekend, please?" But I guess I'm learning new skills, so, yay?

So I haven't been able to write much on either my holiday stories or the writing meta you all asked for, although I think that both DSSS and Yuletide Alternate Two are under control. But I'm going to try to do a little more fannish stuff today and this weekend, because the forecast calls for continued glop; and since glop here equals snow at higher elevations, I think Monday or Tuesday we shall break in our ski passes, woo!
