So makesmewannadie wondered if anyone had an mp3 of the Helsinki Complaints Choir video, and it occurred to me that the headphone-to-mike cable I accidentally bought thinking it was a headphone extender cord could be used with Audacity to rip the audio from a video. Um. Not so much. I'll take Latin any day; it flows much better. Finnish evidently has so many short syllables that you have to break up the harmonic line in a way that I found choppy and unpleasing. And that is a two-part choir, as far as I could tell.

*sniffs*

They certainly produce a lively sound, however. And even in the other language, one could tell that they were having fun.

See, I kind of like the short syllables because - actually, I think 'lively' describes it. Did you listen to the Loituma? That's 4-person a capella.

Yes! It's the choppiness that makes it so pleasantly lively for me, both in this piece and in the Loituma song. It feels good to sing it, too; sort of like warm-up exercises for the face. :)
