feeding you back

I've been thinking about feedback lately - what I get, what I give. It occurs to me that the advent of lj and the trend toward commenting as feedback, rather than emailed LOCs (which of course is not new - things have been this way for a while) is a double-edged sword, in that although the ease of posting a comment has generally led to more ( Read more... )

I would love some feedback from you on either of my SGA stories. You can email me at beccafran @ yahoo. Fics are:

A Bad Beginning (Ronon/Teyla, PG-ish)
Far From Home (Teyla & Carson gen, PG-ish)

This is a great offer. I wish I got more feedback. :)

As someone who really loves your work and would love to get concrit from you, but who doesn't write in any of your favored fandoms (all I've got posted online at this point is RPS) would it be worth it to either of us for me to offer a couple of recs? Because if it's just not going to be your type of thing at all then it'd probably be better to just leave it to others who are at least writing in your fandom. If you'd like to give it a shot then I'd be happy to give you a couple of links. I'm good either way with no hard feelings.

Hmm. If you have any stories that would stand alone as original (since I have zero knowledge of the supposed canon of any of the people involved) that otherwise fit my criteria, go ahead and suggest one - but if I can't get into it, I'll let you know.

Coolness, that works. :)

OK, let's try these:

Menagerie -- NC-17, lots of Rings guys but not really a "pairing" sort of story, although by the end you'll get an idea of who's with or tending toward whom. It's not primarily a romance, though; I didn't put the pairings in the header because I don't want people to go in expecting it to focus on Joe and Bob and their relationship and then be disappointed. I'm including this one because it's the most plot-heavy of my currently posted stories, with an external conflict and a definite antagonist and a lot going on. It's also very dark, so please read the prompt I was working from. (I chose this one as a challenge, to see if I could manage to write a prompt which could easily have ended up a dorky, cliche-ridden mess and make it work.) I think that if you like this sort of story you'll probably like this one, but I wasn't sure so I'm hedging my bets by giving you two other, lighter choices.

Meddle Not -- PG (no sex), Viggo/Orlando; a saying goodbye at the airport story. All my ( ... )

Oh, forgot -- angiepen at livejournal dot com works fine. :) Or if you want to post in the comments under the story, that's fine too; I don't mind concrit in public.

You know? We should maybe get in the habit of posting stories with an email link at the bottom, just to make it easy for people to send mixed reviews.

I've been posting most (although not all) my stories on my website, rather than to lj, and I have an email fb link at the bottom. Not very many people use it, though.

But the idea of putting email links on an lj-post is a good one, I think.

...or even a person whose general manner on lj I admire

Well, that knocks my asshole self out of the running.

Most of my SGA stories so far are not that explicit. Still I'd be interested in what you thought of N+1, and/or of Defend, Disarm, Destroy.

If you weren't fandom-limiting, I'd ask about Motif, which is C/P/T in ST:Voy ("B'Elanna schemes, smut ensues." 90 K of smut.), and which hardcore slashers have said contains "hot het". Or, hell, anything on this page, including the Rhyme or Reason series (containing an anti-MarySue, the Aries story (which has me in it), or the original Blood Brothers.

If you crit the stuff on LJ, feel free to do it in an open comment if you want. Otherwise, it's my lj username at either hotmail or yahoo. Yahoo seems to work a bit better.
