"I can't! I'm too scared!"
Her eyes are screwed up tight. She's standing on the deck of the Elizabeth, right at the edge. She hears Charlie calling, but not the actual words he's using. It's Aaron that she's listening to.
"Come on, babe, just jump! I won't let anything happen to you!"
It's the water. She hates water. She's terrified of it. But somehow she ended up in Australia, standing on the deck of Charlie's parents' boat with her eyes closed and her boyfriend (and friend) urging her to jump straight into it.
"You promise?!"
"We promise!" they both yell.
So she breathes and jumps in.
