Kate stares at the row of pregnancy tests in the grocery store for a while before picking one up. When she does, her hand shakes. She grips it tighter and tries to keep a hold of herself before the panic overtakes her.
She pays for it with her head downcast, her mind a million miles away. On the drive home, she thinks of Kevin, of how much she loves him. She thinks of their wedding day, and all the promises she made. She thinks of how much he must want a family and it makes her cry.
Before she even takes the test, she knows everything has ended.
