She's only vaguely aware of the fact that Dawn has left with Willow and Tara. Things are so cold between them, she's sure that's where she belongs right now.
And anyway, Buffy has to be here. For now, for tonight, she has to be standing right here. Waiting.
She knows he's coming; because she knows him. She doesn't know how he'll have found out, but she doesn't really care. She'll wait for him and they'll sit with her mother all night. It's what she needs. He's what she needs.
His hand slides into hers. She holds on for dear life.
