I finally read this last night and then I was too tired to leave fb. I hate to admit that I'd been hesitant because of the warning that it would take a long time to get to the J/S stuff. I know, I suck.

Anyway, now that I am finally all caught up with it, I'm really loving this. Something about it sort of feels Firefly-ish, is that possible? I know you're writing a real Firefly AU and that this isn't it, but I keep picturing a Firefly-ish world in this series.

I love Sawyer being a leader here. I'm a total sucker for fics where Sawyer takes a leadership role, so that alone makes me insanely happy. I like how he's still got all his Sawyerness, but he's assumed responsibility and gained people's trust in a way that canon!Sawyer would struggle with.

I'm really enjoying how imaginative this is, from dividing up the characters into two groups, to the whole idea of the hotel (now that strikes me as Joss-ish too), to the roles that all the various characters play in this altered reality, not to mention the whole post-apocalyptic premise in the first place.

Now that I've taken the plunge, I'm ready for more! Soon, I hope.

You don't suck, hun. :) I put that up there for a reason, because I wanted people to know what they were getting into. I couldn't just jump into the Jack/Sawyer bits -- this is a bit plot-heavy, where as some of my other stories/series have been character-heavy -- and I wanted to give people an out, just in case they weren't interested in waiting around for a series to get where it was going. I don't hold the fact that you weren't sure against you, believe me.

I think the brilliant thing that Joss does is that, beyond the characters and the settings, he gives his shows and atmosphere, a feel. Firefly was kind of gritty. Not in that kind of way people describe basic cable dramas, but in that way sci-fi/western thing that he was going for. It is a great compliment, to me, that you feel the atmosphere of this is Firefly-like. :) That's wonderful to hear.

I think that there was no other choice but for Sawyer to be the leader. He has his little "cabinet" that he goes to for advice and the people that he trusts more than others, but he's kind of in that place where he's the one that people look to to say what's what, and even though he's doing it, he doesn't necessarily like doing it. It just needs to be done. Plus, it lets him play against Jack, who was viewed as the leader of his own little group as well.

Well, thank you, and yay! :) That's all wonderful to hear. Serieses take me a long time to get out, but they're always the most fun (and the most involved) writing experiences. I'm glad to hear that you're into this one. Thanks for giving it a chance. ♥
