The Accidental Crowd-Surfer

My Reflection entry on Warped Tour:

We (me, Caitlin, and my Mother) got to Randalls Island at around 11:00. The line was intoleratalble to my mother. She said it felt like a million degrees. At around 11:20 they let us in the first round of sucurity- this one's purpose was to make sure you had a ticket. Then came another, to then again, make sure you had a ticket. And finnaly we got checked, and our tickets were ripped, and we were off.

Our first destination, of course, was the schedule, wwhich was hastily written on the back of a Shiragirl postcard on my back. The times were mainly for the main-stage bands we wanted to see-- Fall Out Boy, MXPX, My Chemical Romance, Relient K, Avenged Sevenfold, The Starting Line, and REGGIE!!! So we gave it to my mom, figuring we'd use it for check-in times, and went to see Relient K, conviniently right after that ordeal was done with.

Relient K was fine, after that was Starting Line, who I didn't see all of, because we started "tent-surfing". In those 20 minutes we gathered crap from FUSE, Girlz Garage, ShiraGirl (rock on!!!), Sugar Hooker, and other shit my brain refuses to remember. Staright to the point, we got this FUSE bag-- those kind with the string straps, which I put all of my stuff in.

7 bottles of water, 3 bands, 1/3 inches of dust, and 2 giveaway bags later, we met up with my mom at reverse daycare, which she claimed was "a total rip-off". She got us lunch, and we refiled some of our water bottles.

---3 hours later. After Some Swedish set we got in the crowd area for My Chem, me carrying that cheap FUSE bag whose straps kept breaking. Gerard comes on the stage and there's this huge wave of people surging forward! People are crowd surfing, and landing on my friggin head (owch!) and doing that weird kick-dance-punch-afi-thing in this circle, whch I did not intend to enter so I'm flung into all sorts of directions with the people avoiding it. And then my FUSE bag, which I unintentionaly carried, broke off! I reach down, grab it, and pull myself back up. With in 5 seconds this guy launches me off so that I'm crowd surfing, thankfuly with my bag intact. That shit hurt like hell but it was sooo worth it! I got to the front of the stage and everything! I sat out fro the rest of the set because my entire right leg had fallen asleep but I was still intact!

Escaping from the sweat and dirt cloud air was a relief. Getting onto the bus and leaving was just an awesome feeling-- We had made it. The subject on the ride to 125th street was along the lines of "I'm gonna take such a long shower when I get home!" My Converse "died"- they are now sitting on my porch, having faded from a black to a dusty brown. But in the end, it was worth it and I was happy I went!
