As she drove further into the back woods of Ohatchee, the rain started coming down harder, as did her tears. She pulled her car over, and let her tears run their course down her face, and fall into her lap like an endless drip. How could he do this to me? she wondered. How could he just leave me like I'm some plaything? She could hear his voice in her mind, "I'm sorry baby, but I just don't think we're gonna work." Her clenched fists slammed down onto the steering wheel.

Ashley glared at Brandon as they passed each other. He met her eyes, and sorrow shone through the once bright windows to his soul. She didn't pity him though; he had broken Camille's heart by cutting her off like that.
Her train of thought ended as she caught sight of Camille. Her chestnut hair bounced as she ran towards her short friend.
"Hey! How has your first day been?" Ashley inquired sweetly.
"So, so," Camille replied. "I know you want to hear something about Brandon, but I have nothing to tell you. He and I didn't even look at each other during Physics. Sorry hon."
Ashley fumed. "You were supposed to talk to him about it! You promised me you would! I can't believe you can just ignore him and not ask for explanations after what he did to you."
"I can though," Piper joined in. "Sometimes you just don't want to know. You should leave her alone Ash."
"Look guys, I've gotta go all the way to fifth floor. I'll see you later."
"Piper, you really should consider listening to the whole conversation before you make a comment."
"I might not have heard the whole exchange but I know why you were nagging her. You really need to lay off of Camille, Ash. She's been through a lot and needs her space. Put yourself in her shoes, and ask yourself if you'd want to be bugged about your recent break-up? I can already tell you the answer is no."
Ashley stared at Piper's retreating figure and tried to keep her temper as she walked to her next class.
