"Life, huh? And what do you think 'life' is about?"
"Life...well, pretty much trying to be happy. Everybody is just walking around, doing whatever then can to make themselves happy."
"Everybody says that. It's the secular equivalent of a Sunday School answer. I like you, Jared. I think you're neat. so,I'm gonna let you in on a little secret... The basic message that people are taught, from the day they're born to the day they die, is only four simple words. Only four. And those four little words take over your whole life."
"Four words?"
"Four. It's. Your. Own. Fault."
"What?"
"Everything that happens to you, everything that people say to you, the things that people do that somehow irrevocably alter you in some terrible way...they are YOUR responsibility. Think about it. Aren't people always telling you what you should have done? What's wrong with you? How if it were 'me' I would have done better? How you need to take responsibility?"
"Yes, but-"
"Of course. So, even when we aren't wrong, we sit there and we still have to justify our actions to our own head. Because it's constantly repeating, on a loop, 'it's your own fault'. The thing is, so is everybody's. So of course, all they're gonna want to tell you is that it's YOUR bad. Not theirs."
"So...then what is life about?"
"Trying to prove that those four little words aren't true."
Possibly a story/skit idea. Will be revisited later.
