This story of ours reads just like a tragedy,
but, oh my love, it doesn't have to be.
Time can be rewritten.

She doesn't look like Rose Tyler, not anymore, and she doesn't feel like Rose Tyler either, so maybe that's a good thing.  She calls herself Mallory Loup because she never could resist a pun and the only people who might put two and two together and come up with Bad Wolf won't be looking for her anyway.  They think she's living happily ever after in a parallel universe with a new new new Doctor.  But she's not going to think about that, about too-short lives and broken promises and mistakes.

She works for UNIT for a while, but apparently fucking everyone in your division is frowned upon and she's had enough of following orders anyway, so she freelances after that.  It's refreshing, choosing her own cases and working her own jobs.  The universe is vast, but the world she moves in is small.  The knowledge of the existence of extraterrestrials is confined to a chosen few, and Rose finds she likes it that way.  It's easier to hide when you know all the players, easier to know when to run.

Until a girl named Clara asks her for help, and she is pulled back into the orbit of a man she's been doing her best to avoid.  He isn't her Doctor, not anymore, and she's not his Rose.
