This is a bunch of personal stuff, so if you're just here for the fic feel free to skip this entry. :D
So some good things have happened recently.
1. I'm going to overnights.
Yeah it sucks that Anthony and I won't be working the same schedule (second shift) anymore, but I get a 50 cent raise and 32 hours a week gaurenteed. That's more hours and more hours means more money. I'll probably pull in between two and four hundred extra dollars every month and we could definitely use that.
2. I did the taxes.
And we're getting a lot back. I knew that we would--we make fuck all and living is expensive. But it's fantastic, because that gets the creditors off of our backs and will allow us to finally change the title on our car so it actually belongs to us (and his parents can't do something stupid like take it away because they fucked up their finances or just because they want to teach him a lesson--don't even get me started on this I could rant all day) and pay for 6 months of insurance with money left over. That would be a HUGE relief.
3. Commissions
Thank you to everyone who commissioned something. I am working on them, I promise. I'm going to publish the first story I finished right after I publish this, actually, and I'm quite close to being finished with one of elorie's prompts. :D It was Rose and the Ladies of Serenity, but I included Amy and set it in the 'All Roads Lead Home' universe just after the end of 'The Straight and Narrow Road,' but before Rory and Amy go off on their honeymoon. Oh, and I picked the episode I'm going to use in her other prompt (10 & Donna just before the bullets (figuritively speaking) start to fly in an episode of Firefly. It's the one with Atherton Wing when Mal inadvertently challenges him to a duel because Wing is insulting Inara. Donna likes a party, right? And they have a little help from a surprise guest AND THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING ABOUT THAT. I have to go and read the first part of 'The Golden Compass' again so I can get all the bits about Jordan College right (since that's where I'm setting the fic) and so I can get handle on Pullman's style.
4. School is okay
So some of you know that I failed out of college last year. YEP. I did. I fucked up. It was insane, really, and completely stupid when I look back on it now, but everything snowballed and I just sort of shut down. I'm trying to fix that habit and it's not easy. If give a choice between fight or flight I'm with running away any day. I'm a coward. I have been for a very long time, but I'm trying to change that. I'm taking classes at the local community college in the hopes that I can get back into University and finish up my degree soon. Perhaps in the Fall. I've got two classes and they actually work with my schedule: they're both once a week classes, and one is a morning class and one is a night class. It's going to involve a great deal of coffee, but I'm confident that I can do well in them.
So that's my life at the moment. Thank you to everyone who has offered support and advice and listened to me bitch for the past few months. I really appreciate it.
