Saturday was fun, but rather chaotic. It went something like this:
- Met
bluegreygold and Gumi at the Ritzy so go see Harry Potter. Told that the first two showings were cancelled and we'd have to go somewhere else. - Toddle off down to Streatham to see Harry Potter.
- Came out of the cinema with half an hour in which to get from Streatham High Street to Blackheath for Katie's drama recital.
- After a long and complicated journey, we get to Katie's theatre ten minutes before the show ends and are (deservedly) not allowed in. So we sit outside the theatre thinking, "Well, at least Jo's in there watching it." Five minutes later, Jo shows up saying she couldn't get in. Apologise profusely to Katie when she comes out.
- Hang around at Amy's for a bit.
- Miss the train to get to Molly's drama gala, but thankfully manage to get there on time to see the gala. Which was, by the way, flipping incredible. 'Specially Molly's singing and the dancing. And they sang a song from Cats and one from Little Shop of Horrors. :D Left the gala feeling rather talentless.
- Watched mindless but entertaining chick flick at Amy's until three in the morning. Amy's sister, Alice, and her friend fell asleep in a large cardboard box. I may have been slightly hysterical.
Order of the Phoenix was... pretty good. I'm not that much of a fan of the films, myself but they definitely are getting better and Danny Rad showed a small glimpse of acting talent in this. Which was a nice change. Watching Dudley try and act, on the other hand, was frankly embarrassing.
Now, I've complained about the casting of certain characters quite enough, and I've managed to get over it but I can't help but object to Kingsley Shacklebolt's casting since he remains one of my favourite characters. No, no, no! He was all wrong - he's supposed to be younger and cool! With an earring! Not older and odd with a strange hat. Luna was, of course, perfection. Evanna Lynch = YAY! As are Helena Bonham Carter and Imelda Staunton.
Not enough Draco in this film. Again. I think he was in about two scenes and had about five lines. But at least they have to include him in Half Blood Prince!
The scene that I was most looking forward to was the Marauders' scene in the Pensieve. It was good, but only about five seconds long. Which was annoying because we need more Young!James&Sirius&Remus&Snape.
Harry's such a prat in this film, I'd forgotten. I wanted to give Ron a hug!
The soundtrack's brilliant though. I love the new composer.
I couldn't help thinking that Sirius' death was a bit anti-climactic. Oh, but there were these really cool bits where Voldemort was like, messing with Harry's mind and we kept seeing flashbacks of the other films. Which made me sad because I got all upset about Cedric again, like I did when I saw GoF...
The script tended to range from the wonderful ("Nice one, James!") to the painfully awful ("I just feel so angry... All the time...").
And once again they failed to explain, um, anything. I fail to see how people who haven't read the books can be expected to get a hold on this plot.
And now... a completely unreliable HP meme...
