GCSE, Havemercy and Sixth Form

So I finally have my GCSE results. Not because the Royal Mail have decided to get off their arses and post them to me, mind you, but because I managed to get the head of sixth form to e-mail them to me. But anyway, I have them now so it's good. And I'm majorly happy with what I got - 3 Bs, 5 As and 5 A*s. Wahey!

Oh wow, but hopefully this is that ( Read more... )

Congratulations about your results! It must be so nice to have that stress lifted- and your marks sound very impressive indeed!

Wow, it must be so nice to look forward to ALL YOUR SUBJECTS. I envy you and covet your subjects in a totally non-Ten-Commandments-offending way. So yeah. English lit sounds so cool! You've got to tell me whay you're reading in that class!

Yeah, getting old is much scary. You never really realize how big the world is till you're about to be shoved into it, eh?

Thanks and yeah, I'm really looking forward to starting lessons on Tuesday! Loads of new people who (whom?) I've talked to and seem really cool look like their going to be in my classes! :)

I think as you get older the world expands with you so it just seems huger and huger as you become aware of more of it. I wouldn't mind the world being so big if I just knew what I was supposed to do in it, you know? Like, if I knew what my calling was...

I hate Latin. I hate Latin. I hate Latin. I hate Latin.
Not only do I not get to go to Cambridge, but I also do not get to meet new people (especially unfortunate when I'm such a social retard, as Lylie puts it), I have to go in on a Saturday - at least an hour and a half travelling for forty minutes of learning, not to mention the lack of a weekend - and it looks like messing up my Further Maths and possibly History lessons. So I think I'm dropping it. For that, and the fact that I'm kinda meant to wear a suit and it is all way over my head.
...Sorry for ranting in your LJ!

And that's also kinda my problem - if I knew what I wanted to do at uni and beyond, I wouldn't mind sacrificing it as much as I do now (although there's still the possibility of someone teaching me out of school).

I know it sucked so much you couldn't come to Cambridge with us! And you have SATURDAY LESSONS? Oh gosh, I'm so sorry for you - that's awful 'specially if it screws with your other subjects! Are all the Latin people in the same boat or just you?

And you're dropping it? I guess if you're not looking to do history at uni that would be okay, though a massive shame. I was always under the impression that you kinda wanted to do maths...?

Yeah, I think I'm leaning heavily towards Maths at the moment - I've always said to myself that should Latin clash with Maths, Maths would win, so... I dunno, it's still a hard choice though because we haven't done any of the A level yet and loads of people say that that really made up their minds about uni course choices, so I don't really want to do it, though neither do I want to waste my time in Latin lessons for a month or two only to drop it then. I think I'll talk to Ms Stevenson about it tomorrow, then go for the lesson this Saturday and Monday anyway, at least.

I think pretty much everyone is in the same boat - I think Maria and Jo are considering dropping Further Maths should it come to it (but possibly we may be doing the Maths this year and Further next because of Additional GCSE, which would go a long way to solving the problem) and pretty much everyone except Maria found it ridiculously hard-sounding. But don't quote me on that!
