Writer's Block: True Crime

Jan 15, 2009 16:10

Honestly, and I know I'll be sounding somewhat morbid, but most real-life murder stories tend to fascinate me. Especially ones with famous people involved. I think the one that always caught my eye the most often is about Lizzie Borden.

Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.

Only I heard it a little differently:

Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
And when the job was nicely done,
She gave her father forty-one.

Odd what kids will jump rope to, innit?

Crime Library has lots of other stories that are intriguing, hair-raising, and just plain nasty, as well as a few that leave you going, "What were they thinking??" The older, the better, too. Early 20th Century and further back.

murder, crime, writer's block
