So, it's all over, only not really.
The book was just about what I expected, very engaging... JKR is a really really great storyteller, illogical plot points notwithstanding.
Things I liked:
- Neville! Neville, sweet Neville who's always been the bravest one of all Harry's year, really.
- Molly killing Bellatrix and calling her a bitch. Holy mother of God. I had to read back and make sure I was understanding correctly!
- Percy coming to his senses.
- Neville Longbottom, Hogwarts Professor.
- Harry not killing Voldemort in the end, really.
- Immediate start of proper action.
Things I hated:
- Did ALL the Slytherins REALLY have to be evil or cowardly or selfish? REALLY?! Welcome to Slytherin! These are your options. It's so very very fucking clear JKR HATES ambition.
- Hedwig dying. Why on earth did Hedwig have to die?!
- Snape dying. Totally unnecessary to the plot, sorry, he could've been exonerated some other way.
- Fred dying. Again, really unnecessary.
- Mostly everyone who died didn't have to die, at all. Though Mad-Eye went out like he'd've wanted to.
Things I thought were funny:
- Harry monologuing like a
truly foolish hero and Voldemort being stupid enough not to take advantage.
- The Malfoys in general, frankly.
- Fenrir Greyback being just as absolutely a perverted old pedophile as anyone thought he might be.
- The entire epilogue was one big joke. Right? That was just JKR having a laugh, right? So we can totally ignore it, because it was just meant to make us laugh forEVER at what a silly goose she can be.
- Severus Snape, Hogwarts Headmaster. Sorry, that's just too funny.
- Aberforth/goat OTP FOREVAH!
- Ariana Dumbledore. Ariana. Come one now, that's the most fanfic name on EARTH. I am CONVINCED she reads.
- JKR's general attitude toward the womens. It says a lot about her, actually.
That's all, I think.
